Sanjaya (I prefer "Sangyna") has finally won me over. I *heart* him. I have no clue why. All I know is, when doing my voting last night, everyone got a vote. And Sanjaya got a' plenty.

I love Blake. I love Chris. Melinda's "aw, shucks" attitude is refreshingly endearing & sweet. LaKisha's mogambos are even bigger and more powerful then her voice. While we all appreciate those sweet cocoa jugs (and who doesn't?), maybe keep them tucked in a tad more. It's kinda classier that way. And LaKisha is a class act.

I think Melinda deserves to win, but I'm not sure I buy the constant "You like me, you really like me" shtick. Remember, during dedication week, when everyone else was appealing to the red states by dedicating songs to their harelipped grandmother, Melinda dedicated her song to her two best friends, who, she elaborated, were her vocal coach and personal stylist.

I liked Phil a lot initially. He seemed smooth and at ease with himself. Now that's degenerated into cockiness, and he should go. But not before Haley.

Sanjaya has what Constantine had: the ability to play in a focused way to different parts of the house and also play to the camera for emphasis.

He also has this ambiguious manner, he is innocent and his smile and ways are not threatening. Little girls love him because he is exotic looking, mom's like him because he is a sweet boy, the gays like him because they think he is queer, and plus he is completely unlike anyone else in the competition.. the others are jello molds of other years...

but look how taylor sailed through last year, he was unique, his voice, his mannerisms, his hair.. its about being different.. everyone has gotten bored with the black girl, country girl, funky rocker chic, all american boy molds..

My random observations so far:

*I love Blake. I really do. However, is it just me or does he always seem to shuffle about the stage like some sort of retro-esque robot? Not everything calls for beat-boxing, either. In fact, I'd be willing to venture most things don't.

*I love Sanjaya. From his makes the little girls weep hair & smile, down to his kick-ass Barry-Gibbs-called-and-wants-his-look-back white leisure suit. Every week, I wonder what he'll do next. How will he style his hair? A faux-hawk? The "Rachel"? However, I'm actually afraid he'll run out of shocking, kicky 'do's & then what? Boy, I wish he'd take the stage wearing Aladdin balloon pants & gold pointy slippers, whilst playing a flute and charming a snake out a basket. Or, fly over the audience on a magic carpet. That would be awesome. Keep on rockin', brother. Keep on votin', fanjayas!

Actually, even if Sanjaya wins it all, that's not to say the others won't make it big. Look at Jennifer Hudson, Chris Daughtry, Kellie Pickler and Clay Aiken for example. They all lost Idol, and they're much bigger successes that Taylor-Whatsisface could ever hope to be.

You know, they put good dancers on "So You Think You Can Dance" and that show's very entertaining to watch.

I saw a few seconds last night--some girl walking among the audience butchering some song--and promptly turned back to the Nova special about cuttlefish.

arrgghhh,, it was down to the bottom three of the week; haley, the alien and gina glocksen and guess what the rocker chick was voted off... another safe sanjaya week!!!

Mildly sorry to see her go, but in retrospect you could see it coming. The bump in viewership that tuned in just to see Tony Bennett would have been turned off by her punk look and tongue stud.

Just like last year when on country week the bottom three were the two black women and the little Jewish-looking guy.

Just like two years ago when Constantine was voted off the week they showed everybody's families and his looked thin, sophisticated, well-dressed and well-off and not like they just fell off the hayride. (He also probably got screwed because it was Orthodox holy week.)

Not that I've studied this or anything.

Right. Back to work.
