Well, I had this sinking feeling that when I checked it out, it would be quite the dive.
And it was. ![]() |

What she said. I came out less critical of the show-scene technology than she, I thought it was pretty well done, but it just wasn't used to particularly good effect. Too much watching, not enough experiencing.
My ass and shoulders were a lot less wide 10 years ago.

So, I hate the blue highlights on the subs. Something about the shade and the design just doesn't sit right with me. When they first made their appearance with the new paint jobs, it took me several times seeing them to realize that we were seeing the finished project. I literally thought what I was seeing was painter's tape at the water line and tarps over the hatches. Even now knowing that it's the paint job, that's the first thing I see when I look at the subs.

Yes, I'm sure someone knows. Any other questions?

Well, since I rode it 11 times yesterday, maybe my perspective is a bit skewed. I really, really enjoyed the ride, but I do understand why NA, CP & GD didn't like it as much. I would much rather have seen anamatronics rather than tv screens because for one - the Darla figure was fantastic. And we see with the figures in Pirates that the technology is there and should be used. IMHO.
I think the plus side is that there was a wow factor for me and each time I rode it I saw different things - plus the day/ nighttime differances and where you sit in the boat makes a big, big differance in the experiance. Going in the nighttime versus day really blends the cave/ lagoon crossover to a point where it would be difficult to know where you were inthe ride. During the day, in the lagoon you can see much, much more than the colorful illuminations at night. Plus when you are on one side, you have limited space in the lagoon, since the sub passes very close to the Matterhorn walkway. Where you sit has a huge impact on the experiance in regards to front half or middle or back of the boat - so you see different parts of the played scenes, which is troubling I'm sure for those who have ridden it once - I think that's a problem, but I don't see how they could do it any different with what they have in order to keep things moving. I am in total agreement that there could have been more and could have been better but this is what we have and I'm extremely pleased by it. |
