Yep, it's the only reason to keep the war going in Iraq ... because as long as our troops are in battle somewhere, I think Disney feels it obligatory to replicate a war-zone with pyrotechnics.

Until they stop the barrage they unleashed last year (and I'm sure all the new "Remember" toys inspired them as well), I will be hitting the Park on the 4th on a permenant basis.

I hesitate to recommend it ... because having a bunch of friends show up for something you praised as fantastic is one of the sure ways to have it cease immediately.

Nonetheless, last year's show was mindblowing and I would not be a friend to anyone I didn't heartily recommend it to.

So ... anyone who cares to .... Disneyland ... 4th of July ... Small World Mall (over by small world stroller parking) ... anytime from 6pm on.

Our City does a July 3rd thing each year, a carnival/concert, with fireworks. That may be worth a wander, but the 4th is clear so far...

My boss invited me & my boyfriend to go boating with him & other friends on July 3rd. We'll be relaxing on the boat as we watch the firework show at Catalina. However, my boyfriend has to work! I'll definitely go alone if it gets me out of working. Heck, I'll go naked & wear a life vest completely made out of weights if it gets me out of working.

As for July 4th, I have made no plans! Last year my boyfriend & I stayed at a cabin & went camping. If I never do that again, it will be too soon. In retrospect, I had a blast, but as I was outside watching fireworks, a BAT swooped and grazed my head. I watched the rest of the firework extravaganza bent over. Good thing drunken horny frat boys weren't present.

AllyOops! + rustic outdoors = notsomuch.

I would be completely fine just zoning out & watching the Twilight Zone marathon. I dedicate myself to doing that every year, and somehow end up at a party or BBQ. Not that I'm complaining.

If anyone is in my neck of the woods, I'll be watching 1776 (as usual) and dining on hot dogs and potato chips.

Santa Monica College does a pretty good show the Saturday before the 4th. I run into some friends there that I only see once a year, and another friend is on the pyro crew ... so I'm really sad I'll be missing that while I'm camping in the mountains.

But it's another officially-recommended 4th of July Fireworks Show.

ETA: Heheh - I watch 1776 every 4th also ... what are the chances of two such geeks posting on the same message board? Yes, I know there is a significant geek population here ... but American-Revolution-Musical-Theater geeks are unique

Yep! I remember being terrified to watch it as a little girl. It was always on KTLA channel 5. every July 4th.

Now, as an adult, it's one of my very favorite shows. It's also now on the Sci-Fi channel & they host the July 4th marathon.

Oh how my ass longs to remain in bed all day & watch it!
