I got a cold (or perhaps exhaustion from the last week), so I woke up around 10, put on some tiedyed stuff, and have been lounging around blasting the Blues channel - I love digital cable.

I worked all morning, went to Mass in between, now I'm at my parents' house with all the crazies (a.k.a. my family.) I am slightly irritated with the fact that my parents' house is severely lacking in the Easter candy department this year.....there's only ONE chocolate bunny....what's up with that?

I've decided that today shall also be known as Bunny day. But right now I'm sad because the bunny didn't bring me any chocolate. However tomorrow all the chocolate will be on sale at Target. YAY!

Good luck BTD. I went to Target on Friday night... there was not much left. There were women litteraly fighting over the last few egg coloring kits.

Nickolas was thrilled with his small basket. He had gotten up right after I had (having gone back to bed @ 6:30). He hadn't even noticed it yet.

We had a great time at my friend's house. A lot of my Chuy's friends were there. Nickolas had a ball with the pinata and egg hunt. After the kids did their thing they all jumped in the pool. I had forgotten his suit so he was able to borrow one from one of the boys.

We beat David to his parent's house. The dinner was on the small side but still very nice. I left them there and came home for a nap.

It was a great day.

KB, that explains the eggs, but what about the rabbits? Is is because in spring all the animals are amourus and hump like rabbits?

To answer this, I shall quote from "Ostara: Customs, Spells, and Rituals for the Rites of Spring" by Edain McCoy.

Quote:
The Anglo-Saxons hailed Eostre as the Goddess of Spring, the Greening Earth, and Fertility. Her name means "moving into the waxing sun." <snip>

One of Eostre's devotees was a small hare who wished very much to give a gift to his goddess, but he didn't know what he could possibly offer that would be of any value to her. Then one day while foraging, the hare came across a fresh egg, a very prized commodity indeed. The little hare wanted very badly to eat the egg, as it had been a long time since he had feasted on anything finer than dry grasses. Before he could take a bite of his prize, he realized that this egg might make the perfect gift for Eostre. But he pondered, Eostre could have all the eggs she wanted, anytime she wanted them. She was a goddess, a creator, the embodiment of Life itself. Giving her just any egg would never do. How, he wondered, could he make this egg a fit offering for his goddess.

The hare took the egg home and pondered how to make it as beautiful and new as Eostre made the world each spring. He began to decorate the egg. He painted it in the hues of Eostre's spring woods and placed upon the shell symbols sacred to Eostre. When he felt he could not make the egg any more beautiful, he took it to Eostre and offered it to her.

Eostre was so pleased by the little hare's sacrifice of his egg to her, and by the manner in which he decorated it for her, that she wanted everyone - especially children, who are themselves symbols of new life - to enjoy these representations of her bounty. Since that Ostara day long ago, the descendants of that hare have taken up the task of delivering decorated eggs to the world's children at spring. The are called Eostre's Bunnies, or more commonly, the Easter Bunny.

Some very fascinating stuff on Easter lore is also on this webpage at Hallmark where I got the above.

Happy Easter everybody! I spent it lowkey as I just needed to have some personal "me" time.

Wow Kevy..that was pretty cool..Thanks for posting all that Easter info! My kids LOVE stuff like that! They were impressed with your Egg-Knowledgment!

This was probably our most low-key, laziest Easter ever! I love Easter...put extra special time into Easter baskets...the kids usually score bigtime in basket goodies..and it's not all candy! It's not unusual for me to spend $40-50 a piece on them!
(I know..crazy!)

This year..I spent $35 - total for both!

Got Kat stuff from Lisa Frank while she was there with me...Went last night at about 8:30 to Walgreens for candy and stuff for Bailey....They acutally still had ALOT of stuff..could be that our Walgreens is kinda out of the way and our neighboorhood is lots of old people!

Totally forgot to stay up and "put out the baskets"..so I was up this morning at 6:30am putting together baskets...which I had to get out of the kids closets!

Went back to bed..we all got up about 10. Made bunny shaped pancakes..went to the store...came home about 4:30...boiled eggs, dyed eggs with the kids..made dinner...and watched "The Incredibles" - a post Easter basket treat!

It was STRESS free!
