Well, in terms of actually wanting to have at him (or vice versa), sure.
But I am capable of thinking a man is handsome. I just think that Gyllenhaal, no matter what, looks mopey and like he's about to cry. |

Fair enough. Though I can't help but wonder if wanting to actually "have a go" with someone alters the way one perceives their attractiveness. (I don't suppose this is something which could be scientifically tested.) When prompted* I can evaluate the attractiveness of a woman. But there have been more than a few women that I don't think are especially attractive that straight men fawn over. If I were straight, would I too think these women are the bee's knees? Is there a deeper "insight" (for want of a better word) into beauty that is gained by seeing someone of your compatible gender?
*On the subject of female beauty, it generally passes over me like a breeze. It's not until it's either called to my attention or someone specifically asks me to evaluate it that I notice. |

I think there are two different categories to consider (with some overlap) when judging attractiveness of one's non-preferred gender.
1) Would I define them as attractive/handsome/whatever? 2) Would people of the opposite persuasion find them attractive/handsome/whatever? Myself, I know that I'm horrible at identifying men who fall into category 2. I'm continually surprised by the men that woman/gays consider "hot". As for the first category, I don't know that I think about it much. I tend to think about it more in terms of guessing whether they're in category 2. Would the ones that I wrongly (or even rightly) guess go in there qualify as "my type"? I guess that's one way to look at it. But the evaluation really crosses my mind in the form, "I think people would find him hot," rather than, "Ooh, he's hot."

This is especially tough for me, since I'm attracted to both genders ... though very unequally.
I think it takes a lot more for me to find a woman really gorgeous than to think the same of a man ... but I wonder how that would be affected if I didn't find women attractive at all. All of a sudden, I feel like I'm missing the gay gene, and wondering what it would be like to be 100% homo. |

I was watching a documentary on Fox last Sunday night at 9:00pm about a clinic in Rhode Island than can inject you with the gay gene*. Unfortunately, the effects only last two and a half weeks.

Heh, I seem to notice hair first, and his hair is laughable. Some guys just can't pull that style off. Sorry Jake, you look like an actor who grew his hair out for a role, not a guy who always wears his hair like that.
As for the rest of it...yup, he's a shirtless guy. Not bad looking, but not worth 12 dollars to me. I don't think he's that hot normally anyway. Did I mention the hair?

Looking at the pictures again, I will say that I'm glad they allowed him to keep his chest hair, the even the chest hair on his stomach.
