I'll have to say, in spite of his apparent non-performance at Disneyland, Ed was a much more hands-on and visible presence when he was Vice President at the then Disney-MGM Studios here in Florida. He was known as a very approachable and warm personality, and I had several pleasant conversations with him. I was honestly surprised to hear about his invisibility and lack of cast rapport at Disneyland.

I had heard of that possibility before (about Pirates) and wondered if it was a directive from higher up the food chain to put Johnny in there.

In my Happy Place, POTC is going to be quietly de-Depped and restored for its 50th anniversary.

I know I am in the minority on this, but I actually really like the first Johnny, kinda like the second one, but think the third one has to go.

Although the third Johnny is better than the constipated pirate that used to be there.

The Johnnys are tolerable, even the third one (honestly, it's not much worse than the "crapping my pants pirate" of the last iteration). To me the big travesties of the movie overlay is the cheeseball music, the ruination of the tunnel (great technical effect with the waterfall, awful creative decision with Davy Jones and nixing of the iconic haunting spiel), and Barbosa with his horribly written and even more horribly delivered, "Bring me Jack Sparrow" spiel.

Agreed. If they kept the Sparrow AAs, but returned the original soundtrack, I could live with it. As it is now, I feel like taking my iPod along and listening to the original soundtrack as I ride through.

Oddly, I completely agree with you on this.

On another note, it would be nice to have someone with the passion and dedication that Ouimet apparently displayed at the top. It's the kind of business where you really need people who 'get it' running the show. Empty suits need not apply.

Just reading Al's update on the DLR Pres. Any man sent packing by Harriss/Pressler has my attention. Especially one that was replaced by T. Irby (making the success of his own tenure in that position especially apparent). I was initially concerned when I'd read that he'd worked at DL during the Pressler/Harriss regime out of fear that there'd be "more of same" coming back to the park. Sounds like I'll be delightfully wrong on that count. Consider me as having gone from "cautious" to "cautiously optimistic" about the new guy.
