I ask you, how can one little kids theatre show have so much backstage drama? I mean, really? No, I'm not surprised but it's annoying how much the backstage drama is seemingly integral to the whole theatre thing....

So tonight is the Po'okela Awards. It's the Hawai'i version of the Tony's for the theatres statewide.
I must say I have butterflies. The "Hair" cast is performing "Aquarius", "Flesh Failures" and "Let the Sunshine In". You know, a little performance where all the producers, directors and my fellow actors will be watching. But the history of these awards is that I am usually snubbed. We'll see if that continues... Three shows I was in are up for Best Ensemble and Best Musical: "Once Upon One Time" "The Drowsy Chaperone" and "Hair" Fingers crossed. My biggest wish is that Janine Myers and Jim Davenport get Best Lighting for their enormous lit up peace sign that was hanging over the audience for "Hair". It was spectacular. |

If I stop swimming, I'll die... like a shark.
![]() On to the next role. I just got cast in "Crazy for You" over at Diamond Head Theatre. I'm playing Eugene, a British tourist. I dusted off a British accent that is more of a parody of a British accent. Somewhere along the lines of Terry Thomas and just went nuts during the audition. The director loved it. And I love him. And he loves me for loving him and I love him for loving me. And we loooove each other... He's going to accommodate my schedule for the show I'm currently in. So, there's no break betwixt shows. Which is ok by me. Rehearsals start today, the show I'm in closes on the 15th. Anyway, new show, new part, different theatre than the last couple of shows with a director who is a good friend. Yay! ![]() |
