				            | So, you've read The Hare with Amber Eyes by Edmund de Waal? Let's sigh together in deep happiness for the joy of uncovering, layer by layer, the story of his family and their collection of netsuke. I have no idea what to read next.

				            | So, I just threw out a big box of my parents' old home movies, early 1950's to 1970's when video cameras came in. It has taken me almost 13 years to do this.

				            | Yeah, a little home movies and photos go a long, long way for me. When our kids were little, we took almost no video of them and we've never had regrets about that. Still photos are good but I need only a few.

| Nueve | On the flip side, due to a bad family situation that caused all my sh*t to be thrown out when I was 17, I have very little from my childhood, except what scraps random family members might find. I always wish I had more from my own childhood, but take what I can get. Incidentally, I really have to remind myself to do more photo and video because it doesn't really come naturally for me to snap everything up like that.

				            | What's funny to me (I also have almost nothing, just two photos of me from before grad school and one of those is my PADI scuba diving ID) is that it almost never occurs to me to photograph the people around me. I can go to a party, take dozens of photos and when I get home four will have people in them. |
