It's too bad the blackface has cultural baggage because the visual in that one is pretty stunning.

Exactly. And because I'm rather ignorant of the cultural context, I have no idea how to begin parsing those visuals. How much of that actually racist? How much of it inadvertently racist (because I'm pretty sure in South Africa, even a relatively progressive viewpoint can still be quite racist. See: minstrel)? Or is it all satirical/purposefully racially confrontational to make anti-racist statements? Are some parts just pure abstraction for weirdness' sake? Can any of those really be separated?

All I know for sure is that those two are incredibly skilled rap artists, whoever is doing their videos is incredibly skilled, and I can't look away.

There was an article at Slate about the video in the last couple of days (that's why I knew what you were talking about) that talked about the cultural context of blackface in South Africa (apparently they have there own minstrel shows).

Die Antwoord is one of those things that I find incredible and mind-bending, but that I can't recommend to anyone, really.

Die Antwoord are performance artists who created these wonderfully mind-bending personas. That they suddenly became popular in the states just magnified the art in so many ways.

The personas of Die Antwoord are just the latest in a series of characters they've played through the years. Having said that - they absolutely nail it. See em live if you can. They do not disappoint.
