Of course not, he's an American, speaking in America. Now, if he were VISITING Oslo, Norway and made the gesture, that's a whole different story. But if he's in this country, and it means "Texas Longhorns" in this country, then by all means use it.

He is more than an American. He represents us throughtout the world. Why does he need to geture at all? Isn't that why god gave us pockets? Besides, he and his whole family look stupid doing that.

I think that at this point, misinterpreted gestures are the least of our international perception worries.

Actually, I kind of got that impression from the article- that the rockers do there as well. As far as the link- chill out, everyone! It was a slow day and I thought it was funny. Geesh.

I also know that in some cultures this particular hand sign was used as protection against things like the evil eye. Rather un-Satanic in that light.

Wasn't there an incident where Nixon landed in some other country and made his V for victory symbol and it insulted everyone?

Going there and doing it - incredibly stupid.

I thought it was daddy Bush or Michael Jackson that went to another country and gave the "V" gesture that offended them. If it was daddy bush, I guess it runs in the family.
