I'm all about mischief, but some of the posts in this thread weren't clearly playful. I don't think I should have to be playful or shut up. I don't need to chill. My post was general, not directed at anyone, hence the disclaimer.

Wendy, I don't think we're on the same page here. My disclaimer had to do with the fact that sometimes off board drama goes on but makes it's way back on the boards via tongue in cheek comments. My only motive in having a disclaimer was so that if people were making tongue in cheek comments it would be clear that my comments weren't tongue in cheek. I really have no clue what, if any, off board drama is going on right now. A few of the posts in this thread were unclear to me whether or not more was being said than meets the eye.

There have been serious posts in this thread (as in seriously talking about being contrary) so I didn't think I was doing anything wrong by posting something non-playful. When you said to get playful or ignore you (basically to shut up) I found that dismissive. If I have a real thought on a subject in a thread I should be able to say it. I didn't attack anyone, nor do I feel obligated to be playful. I was just posting my thoughts about being contrary.

I was referring to the same people you were, and you too. I did not say shut up, I said ignore, and there is a huge difference. In our house, saying shut up is as bad as swearing, so if I say it, I will make it worth my while and say soemthing along the lines of "Shut the **** up". I was having fun, could understand your confusion, and was trying to help out. Won't make that mistake again.

Wendy, I really think we are getting worked up over nothing. I like you! I just thought you were getting mad at me for posting something serious when you thought the thread should be playful. I just don't like being told to be the way others are being or ignore it. I'm sure I mistook your tone. Cool?

I'm not often in control of my contrary impulses. I wish I was more impulsive and rebellious than moody and rude.

Rudeness is especially unforgivable.

I find that I'll often chose politeness over honesty when I'm in disagreeable company. And just once I'd actually like to fire off what I'm *really* thinking, and see the looks on their faces. But then I start to worry that it's not just a matter of being true to myself, it's a question of also being rude to others to satisfy my own satisfaction.

So, I'm completely not sure what's the better road to travel a lot of the time. As a result, I kind of stand still useless and bewildered.

Oh! Don't feel bad. I think it's just hard sometimes to tell people's tones online. I didn't mean anything negative by my original post, and I don't think wendy meant anything negative by her reply. Just a misunderstanding. It happens, we'll live. I have a LOT of stress right now, and while I didn't intend it to, it's possible that it carried over into my post. But no harm no foul.

Yeah, CP- what she said. Np- it is hard to really 'read' what's happening sometimes, and a lot of times there is a backstory to some of our playing.

But we were just playing and being silly. Maybe it's spring fever....
