So update on Mrs. Morgan. The school's office called in about 1/2 the class individually and they all said the same thing - her class is out of control and she does little to stop it day to day... then one day every so often she decides to buckle down and try and regain control. My daughter admits to having an attitude with her - so she will be spending detention - but in the office and not in the evil teacher's classroom. Principal says, according to the kids, teacher can have an attitude, kids too. Makes for a fun time I'm sure.

When I spoke with the Principal he divulged this - and I reminded him that although she's no angel, the teacher is the adult and is being paid to do a job properly that involved keeping control of her classroom, consistent discipline, and having the proper attitude that a teacher should have that's condusive to learning.

While he agreed, it seemed like little will be done except telling her to knock it off - AGAIN.

I'm being encouraged to call the District Office and complain there to make sure that *something* more then that is done. I'm torn. It IS the end of the school year and all that and we won't have to deal with her anymore. But then again, next year I'm sure it'll be the same thing.

What do you guys think? Call it a year or pursue it further?

If her grades are going to be affected by this woman I would pursue it.

What do you guys think? Call it a year or pursue it further?

We went through a hard spell back when my daughter was in the 6th grade. The class was great, the teacher a b!t(h. {LOL, I do have to code that out, right?} She gave them way too much work and basically set them up to never finish homework, classwork, etc. She would call them names and embarrass them in front of the other students. Then, she would use her 'teacher authority' to deny them things all of the students had, certain field trips that were customarily 6th grade, dances, etc.

At first, I thought it was my daughter having a problem with the work. Then I spoke with some other parents and we realized all of the kids were overwhelmed. The other classes' students were having a blast in 6th grade, our kids were miserable and stressed out.

How did it change? Well, I did complain and I was surprised that the principal sat with us at our first parent/teacher conference. {she did ask} While this principal wasn't the greatest all around {it was her first year as a principal and at this school}, she did see this teacher as a problem and wanted her gone. I think it was only that this principal came in and saw the problem that it changed. She was pulled out of the class and put with 2nd graders {how awful is that?}. Unfortunately my daughters class suffered by having about 2 or 3 different other teachers and that is sad for 6th grade.

I think the previous principals didn't do anything because they knew her, that sort of thing. Well, as more and more came out, this teacher had been a tyrant for years, women my age had stories to tell. Abuse, etc. She got majorly busted when a petite mom came in and she thought she was a student and called her stupid.

How does this relate to your story? Well...for us, it was the beginning of the year. That worked in our favor. And, we had the new principal, also a plus. So. You have to think, is it worth it to you to get this teacher out? Or at least make her do some retraining? How long has she been a teacher? Also, I think if the principal is close to her/knows her, he may not do anything. Are there other parents who can back you? {that helped me} You can follow up with the principal and see what has been done and let him know whether it is satisfactory or not and that you are going to the district.

You could be saving next years students. I know that my daughter was affected by this, the whole class was made to feel substandard to the other kids.

Up to you. I feel for you because I've been there, done that. Actually, with another teacher, too, but it was after school was out that I heard about how awful she'd been. So, that one I didn't do anything about. I am only glad that teacher retired and is away from kids.

I wish you the best.

Nope, they fvcked up my night. It seems that they get to declare themselves exempt from local city noise ordinances if they're working on the freeway since it's their right of way, not the cities'. Who cares if the freeway is dead smack in the middle of said freeway and half the city can hear them at midnight.

If this goes on, I'm going to send them a bill for my increased electricity bill due to having to close the windows and turn on the a/c.

On the plus side, school's out for summer! Why is that a plus for me? There are 5 schools directly on my route to work, and an unknown number a block or two in either direction. My 35 minute commute is down to 20.

Oh, that sucks. It came to my mind the other day how normally there is a lot of construction that goes on around here in the summer {road repair, whatever, I don't ask, I just close up the house}. And, how {opposite of your problem} they start bright and early in the morning. During summer break. When some people don't have to wake up early and it would be nice to wake up naturally for a change, ya know?

And yeah! about school being out. I so hear you about that, traffic wise. I can normally get around the schools but sometimes I forget and I'm screwed. I really don't like driving through them, not just because it takes more time but those kids are unpredictable and their parents usually running late and themselves acting like them getting their kid to school is soo important.

Then get them there earlier.

{oh, and there are normally cops all over.... }
