Oh dear - the "Too Smart For You" incident comes to mind - at least in my recollection Strangler Lewis always managed to at least be traveling in the right direction...

I can think of something else that wasn't quite where it belonged that night.

Strangler: not totally the exception. I didn't speed till well into my 20's and still have a reputation for generally driving like a granny.

I've engaged in stereotypical youth speeding behaviors 2.5 times:

Once I raced a guy home from an American Legion meeting we were forced to attend. I was in an Oldsmobile sedan and my friend was in a souped up Pontiac muscle car of some sort. The freeway was crowded so to maintain my lead I had to creatively use other cars to block him. We topped 100 miles an hour that night.

Shortly after that I drove almost 80 mph on a long straight but residential street, after dark.

For some reason after those two I just decided I was being really stupid and never did it again.

The half was when I was 24 and driving a rented Pontiac from Portland to Tijuana. Somewhere around 2 a.m. on a long straight stretch somewhere between Redding and Sacramento I got to wondering how fast it could go. Turns out it was governor regulated to 107 miles per hour. Scared the **** out of me when it hit that and the engine went "clunk." But that was on a stretch of interstate with no other car in site. So the only thing I was likely to kill was myself (and the friend sleeping oblivious to it all in the passenger seat).

I think I've decided I like the Craig Ferguson talk show. It's not LOL funny, but it's sort of ongoing mild amusement funny.

And he's cute and has a British Isles accent

I try to watch his monologue and then tune out unless he is interviewing someone I know is intelligent enough. The disdain that Ferguson has for stupid guests makes for poor interviews most of the time.

Well, he has Wanda Sykes on, so no problem there.

I shouldn't say this, but Kelsey Grammar is hot. So's David Hyde Pierce. And as long as I'm admitting strange celebrity crushes... I know it's SOOOO wrong, but Christopher Walken is totally hot too.

I seem to have gotten over thinking Emeril is hot. Or maybe he just got old on me. Or perhaps I just got totally bored with his schtick after visiting one of his restaurants and deciding I didn't like his food?

...I should go to bed, shouldn't I?

I have always regularly gone faster than the speed limit, but never in heavy traffic and I never weave across lanes to accomplish it. If I'm on a very empty long straight stretch of freeway, I have no qualms approaching 100mph. I have been pulled over twice for speeding (both times as a teen), ticketed once. I do not consider speed as de-facto dangerous driving.

I can't imagine that a Prius maintains its fuel efficiency advantage at 100mph.

I got to experience that on the Camp Swank trek - more noticeable on the return trip going up the Tejon Pass side. "Oh, you mean I need to press my gas peddle a little more when I start going up a hill to maintain the same speed?"
