If it were drain cleaner and Windex, I'd understand, but cookies & bread can sit on top of orange juice and veggies.

Yep. I never did it, but I have friends who called in regularly. It got you off the phones and full pay if you were lucky enough to be on a jury. You just had to make sure you didn't do it too often or it could be considered work avoidance.
