Reminds me... I have some curtains I want to hang in my living room. I know it needs to be screwed into the wall, but my question is, does it require wall anchors? I mean, do I need a drill for this?

Yes, they will need wall anchors. They have them at home depot. There are several different designs, some of them screw into the drywall using a screwdriver, so no drill is necessary.

a lot depends on the weight they'll be holding. sheers + rod and such, yeah a wood screw works fine. vertical blinds, floor length drapes and anything with some real substance, I would strongly reccomend anchors and a wall stud as its not just the weight, but often wind resistance from moving air

Okay, what do you do if the wall is an outside wall? Since I rent, I've always been iffy about drilling holes. That said, I do want to get some kind of window treatment work done in my bedroom, the walls are outer walls (concrete & brick).

Any suggestions or thoughts? I don't really want to do blinds, or if I do, I still want some kind of rod and curtains to make it look nice.

If you buy a $50 mitre saw or a $50 drill press, you will get a $50 mitre saw or a $50 drill press. It is off brand and it is TOO cheap. Either item will be totally inaccurate and inconsistent.

Snowflake - they make anchors that go into concrete. Four years working at a hardware store I'm full of tons of usless information. Well not exactly useless but useless to me most of the time.

Well, our move-in date is pushed back to the 11th now. They're a little behind, but they are really taking the time to do it right. They're even installing granite counter tops!

It also turns out that we do have a small in-wall A/C unit that they have had cleaned and serviced, and it works really well.

Our new home is almost a reality! And, it's going to be all new!

We're excited.
