And I need to revise my previous statement. Heavy doses of olive oil and garlic are nearly as effective as cooking in neutralizing the evil.

Well, I'm havin' me some devil for dinner then. This thread got me so damn hungry that I went to the store looking for dinner ideas. They had avocados on sale for a buck each and I decided to make some homemade Chicken Tortilla Soup with sliced avocado.
Mmmm, spicy soup on a cold night. Gotta love it. ![]() |

I can't have avacado; I'm allergic to them.
I had bacon with breakfast today. We stopped at the Ruby's in SJC on the way down here. I contemplated having the Bacon Chedder Burger, but didn't.

I love tomatos. I'll eat them whole, sliced, diced, any way but cooked. Cooked tomatos are nasty.
Avacado is amazing and now I want some Chipotle guac. |

Cooking is the only way to neutralize the evil found in all tomatoes.

I don't understand you people and your tomato bias. A tomato choked me this summer and I still daily engage in tango-di-tomato.

Born and raised on the east coast left me with no taste for guacamole. I hate the stuff.
Of course, born and raised a jew did nothing to squelch my love of Bacon. MMMMMMMMMM, Baaaaacon. |

As far as tomatoes, my dad has always been a fanatical gardener. I grew up pretty much always having fresh tomatoes that were unlike anything available in the store. In the summer, he would slice them and some onions and put balsamic vinegar over them, along with a little salt and pepper. I hated the onions, loved the tomatoes. To this day, I'll eat them no matter how they are prepared. Well, except stewed, I suppose. Then again, I don't think I've ever had a stewed tomato. It just sounds wrong. |
