Did I accidentally schedule my Christmas party over someone's wedding or something? People are so noncommittal this year!

So 3 nights of racing the sun to sleep and sleeping till 8 am caught up with me. We were out, prepared to do it all again and at 1030 I was just not feeling *it*. Was going to go to a more low key event, but autopilot took me home. I was asleep by 11:30, and woke up at 10.

Well, after seven animal-free years, I've been thinking a cat might be nice. Over Thanksgiving the planets aligned.

My parents' neighbors' barn cat had three kittens. These three were everywhere we turned outside. They're about six weeks old, playful and very friendly. Two of them were long-haired, one orange and one a beautiful smoky coffee color. Then I saw the third. Short haired, white with a black hood and tail. And black spots. Large black spots. Three black spots in a distinct arrangement. On both sides.

Yes, the kitten has hidden Mickey markings.

It turns out that the neighbors were planning on keeping only two of the kittens. Guess which one was up for grabs.

How could I resist?

I haven't named her yet. I need to live with her for a while. Mickey or Minnie is too obvious. I'm considering Lilly Belle. I'll post pics soon and take input.

So last night I dreamt I was in some animal park, and we were delighting at watching the baby penguins at play in their nests up in the trees. They would dive and roll into the nest so that their lttle penguin feet would stick straight up in the air.

It wasn't until I woke up that I realized that penguins are flightless birds who live in the antarctic and do not build their nests in trees for obvious reasons.

I wonder if my dream is foreshadowing global warming.

Funny we should be talking about dreams...

Just the other night I realized that I hadn't dreamed in a few months, with the exception of a quick dream the other night about some new friends. Normally, I have vivid dreams, nightly. Not all bad ones, but they were frequent. The absence has been striking, and I think the void has impacted me in some way.

This weekend, though I've been busy just about every day, I've found a little more time to sleep. Last night, I finally had a dream and was it a doozy! Many of my dreams are also recurrent, and last night was almost a recurrent dream greatest hits release! I was on the plane with CP & GD (I'm guessing because of their recent trip, though I'm not sure). I flew by the scene of one recurrent dream that took place in NYC, and another that seems to take place in Michigan. On our way to California, it occurred to me that our flight took us on a low path (another common element), but that this time it looked like we were going to crash (I've had recurrent plane crash dreams, and yet, I love to fly). Sure enough, the pilot veers up, something happens and we plop to the ground. No explosion, though... As I get out, the only thing that's important to me is my suitcase which has precious cargo ("precious cargo" is undefined and again is another recurrent theme)... I'm trying to break into the cargo bay as GD & CP plead that I run away with them. After all, the plane will probably explode soon. As I'm getting back to the plane, a massive earthquake happens (ahem... recurrent theme...) and the plane blows up. My boyfriend shows up and the four of us run off.

Then I wake up.

The dream makes no sense, except that maybe it's a "Welcome Back to Dreamland" dream. I have been glowing over it all day.

I am amazed Argentina isn't massively overpopulated. I worked the Tango Buenes Aires show tonight and OMG that's a sexy dance.

I've been dreaming lately, too. I dreamed my name was my ex-girl's current boyfriend's ex's name. This morning I dreamed a whole lot of stuff, much of it involving theater, as usual. There was a sculpture that looked like a moray eel's mouth and it made me giggle like a bad child. Driving a car I haven't owned in four years, and trying to find a gas station that I know is here somewhere. Once I find it, I can't get back out. Next segment I'm a spy. I call the secret phone number and Jenny answers. Next I'm booking a flight to Reno to see a country music concert (WTF???). Our group meets a political candidate and I don't wait my turn.

My dreams are usually segmented. I'm just amazed I remembered it all.

So now I have cheese, crackers, and a glass of wine. I'm hoping I can get to sleep before midnight. Wish me luck!
