I've heard of all of them, but then, I used to watch a LOT of Victory Garden, so I've got zillions of plant names rattling around my head with no real connection to where they might be available/viable.

HI!
|
Your in Zone 22. Keep that in mind when searching for plants.
Plants that I'm considering, if I can find them: Jacobs Ladder (Polemonium) ![]() Zone 1-11, 14-17. Another PNW and Mountain flower. Heuchera (which comes in different leaf colors) ![]() This is Coral Bells. They don't flower long or often but the foliage is pretty. There are more varieties of this plant. I've seen them used in desert gardenscapes as well. Toad Lilly (Tricyrtus) ![]() Zone 3-9, 14-17. Probably best in woodland areas of Northern CA and the PNW. |

Definitely avoid the bamboo, once that stuff's planted, there's no stopping it.
No love for the bouganvilla? Or does that need more sun?

Take a look at Coleus for beautiful leaves or Sweet Potato Vine (in both chartreuse and plum) for beautiful foliage color. As far as plants go, Fuchsia, Hydrangea, camellia, rhododendron (some varieties will grow here), begonia, Calla, foxglove, primrose, gardenia, dianthus, alstrolemeria. If you like the "orchid" look, there is aplant whose nam I can't remember at the moment, but they are selling them at TJ's at the moment. The name will come to me. |

HI!

Bougainvillea are sun lovers and, better if you have space. Some say that the thorny plant that covered Sleeping Beauty's castle was a Bougainvillea.

We got more puppy pics today. They're starting to toddle around and play, and she even heard an attempt at a bark today!
![]() ![]() ![]() It looks like we'll be getting her right after we get back from MA. 5 weeks and counting!

We should start a gardening thread....
I'm not planning on having one any time soon since I'm in a climate that's dry, windy, and I'm in an area with zilch for sunlight since we're surrounded by other apartments... but I will be soon, and am mentally planning on what I can grow easily and what might take more work. Well, that's just my opinion, since I really love gardening.
