What a day.
Canine epilepsey is what my poor guy has. Apparently it can be brought on by extreme stress. As for the animal the neighbors are telling me it is a possum(one very well fed possum) that made its way from the golf course I live near. No one can tell me what that sound was although to answer GD that tree does overhang my garage roof a little. --------------- Thank you all for your advice and concern, I know I can always count on you guys for that. |

Poor puppy, and poor Jeff! What a day.....
My sis's akita, Arlo, had epilepsy. He only had periodic seizures, and they were able to control it with meds. He was a happy, healthy lovebug until he passed away from old age. Big hugs to your pup, and don't worry- he'll be fine! Thanks for the update, Jeff- I was worried. |

HI!
|
WOW! A BIG-ass opossum! I was almost convinced it was a wild cat.
I'm glad you figured out what is wring with your pooch. I hope that they can treat it and that he doesn't encounter too much stress from here on out. Stay away Mr. Big-Ass Opossum! |

We are supposed to just keep him away from stressful things(but I refuse to get rid of my Maine Coon) but it's not like I invited Mr. B.A. Opossum to breakfast or anything so I am not sure how to achieve that end. |

HI!
|
I've heard Opossom is edible...........
Seriously, they are transient animals. They tend to wander in a large area. We see "ours" only on rare occasions. However, they are usually nocturnal, so I'm not sure what that guy was doing up a tree in the morning - unless he thought it was a fine place to sleep. (Think BTMRR with the hanging opossums.) I've always wanted to see an opossum hanging from a tree. |

It was still pretty dark when all this occured this morning; the sun was probably barely up, but due to heavy cloud cover it was still pretty dark. |

My cat has epilepsy, but has only had one seizure and that was under anesthesia at the vet, thank goodness. Your poor doggy! And poor you!
I haven't seen an opossum since we moved here......they ran rampant in Polk County though. We see racoons almost everyday.....I've growned to dislike them immensely! They freak out my cat. And we hear the coyotes every once in a while--those freak us all out. Oh, poor doggie!!

Fred(my dog) is fine now....he's back to chasing the cat away from his food dish and trying to sneak up on to the couch(how can I tell him NO after yesterday?) and basically being his old self. |

Wow, so it was a possum after all! I have a possum that lives on an empty lot next to my house, and he likes to climb on the fence and stare at my dogs who are indoors busily throwing themselves against the plate glass window in a desperate attempt to get at him. What a stinker....
I'm so glad to hear you got a diagnosis for your fur-baby. Who knows, maybe it's a good thing this happened and you can now monitor his health knowing this. Give him a scritch and a hug from me. And my dogs want to pass along a "wuff" or two along to him too. |
