I have what some people have called a "dinky" Sony Ericson phone that I bought for -$100 three years ago. It makes calls. It fits in my pocket. It still holds a charge reasonably well.
I'm fine, thanks. |

Someone at the dance last night had an iPhone and it was so pretty and the touch screen was amazing. How well does it work? Who knows, but it looks good. No, it looks fabulous.
I hate my new phone now.

I had no interest in the iphone. I hate the cell-phone industry. Marketing in general, really.
I just got the Blackberry Pearl and I've been pretty happy with it so far. Sometimes it takes a click or two to get to a phone call, but I'm sure I'll find the shortcuts and be good.

To be honest with you, I think the speed of the current EDGE network is fine. It's faster than dial up, and I don't need to have a super fast broadband connection wherever I go. I can check my email, read the news, and even browse facebook from my phone with speeds that are just fine. Give the iPhone 2 years and I think it will be one of the most amazing phones out there, but it's just not quite there (feature wise) yet. |

Like I said, I haven't seen it but the local radio guy who reviewed it said that the network speed was not faster than dial up. But he didn't give specific numbers and maybe was being hyperbolic.
But for me it is all moot. Since the only thing I want a cellphone to do is at best secondary to everything else it does. |

Ditto. If cell phones are going to get bigger again, does that mean golf umbrellas will get smaller?

If so then consider me a supporter of big phones. No bigger winter-time bane to my existence than short men (and average height women) who feel that golf umbrellas are the only adequate form of rain protection. (Because the umbrella's prongs on such a person tend to be right at throat level on me and the holder never seems aware that the umbrella is much bigger than them.)

I'm on the fence about IPhone. I certainly think its cool and has lots of bells and whistles but I think I'll wait a few years. Let it get all the bugs out before I spend several hundreds of dollars on a phone. I've been wanting the IPhone but I just cant afford an upgrade that costly. I currently have a Palm Treo 650 and it suits my needs for now.
As I'm an At&t/Cingular user, I do have to complain that I have lots of dropped calls, bad phone reception (not just cuz of the PDA already having bad reception), and a very expensive phone bill. Its ridiculous what you pay to have Web, Text, Phone, and Sync services!! So although I can't live without the PDA, I can certainly live without the huge bills and At&ts crappy cell service.

I'm waiting for the next gen, and a generation thats maybe from t-mobile since my contract like never ends with them.
In fact when my sidekick broke (and then i did something with it) i upgraded to a Wave smart phone which has many of the same features just down sized, and of course to get the best deal got a 2 year extension on moms line... AT&T is nice and all, but its still almost just like t-mobile, EDGE is like 56k and your not always going to be on wifi. (Wave uses Edge and Wifi when available, and i can plug my Wave into my laptop and use the internet from it) |
