I wonder where Lashie got his love for bacon? Hmmm.....
Well, trying to be positive {until later,I'll post later on katiesues' thread...}: I do love road tripping. This isn't something they necessarily did on purpose, they were military and we moved all over the place. I love the car loaded up and people chatting, reading, getting along and enjoying the places along the way. I trip myself out; when I'm traveling, I feel as if one or another sibling/parent is with me. I love to read. Love books. My father instilled that in us. That we would end up saying things to the kids like 'Treat your books kindly, they are your friends.' As well as my having way too many books. {is that possible?} I love to play card games. Mostly I got this from my mom, games to play with a regular deck of cards. My dad played other games like Heart and Rook. Also board games. But my mom got me into Chinese Checkers, checkers, and, Speed. I also learned NOT to let the kids just win. The Hubster says I am mean but I know it means a lot more when they beat me fair and square. What an accomplishemt! {LOL Oh, do I toot my own horn? I am not that great, just at the games we play, it takes them some time to beat me}. Music. Both of my parents loved it, all kinds of it. Reel to reel, 8track, records, on the t.v., whatever. And, my mother loved to dance. I'd walk in on her dancing and she'd extend her arm to me 'Shall we dance?' and we would. GC, I used to love to watch those movies with my family. Musicals, the old movies. I loved Shirley Temple movies, I was little, K? Which reminds me, I also got the love for cheesy t.v. from them. And game shows. Jokers Wild, Truth or Consequences, Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune. Charlies' Angels, Love Boat, Fantasy Island. Movie of the week. All of that, spent with my parents. I remember when Gone With the Wind came to T.V., my dad made sure I came out and watched it. It was awesome. He told me of when it came out and he went to see it. I got my compassion for people from my mom {my dad, too, but he was different, which is what a good set of parents should be, he covered one aspect of caring for someone including their education, etc. and my mom covered the other part, the part you really can't see...}. Which this, I must say, could go in both good and bad. I am a pushover. I see too many sides, too many possibilities and I need to just tell people to f' off. Ya know? But my mom taught me that, she always looked beyond what you see, to think about what they are going through. I did get from them that my kids need to be good to one another. I never made them take care of one another, like I know my older siblings had to of me, but I did have them at least be responsible for how they treated one another and for little for the little guy. Oh, and I love sausage with strawberry preserves inside a buttermilk biscuit. And, coffee and toast. One from my dad and one from my mom. Thanks BtD for making me think of nice things. I think I need this about now. ![]()

From my mom: be creative. a free spirit. yourself.
From my dad: work hard. finish what you start. From both: think about others. help where you can. be nice. I can't touch that other thread. Neither one said "it's ok." Which I think the little kid in me is all I wanted. Oops. ![]() I'm a weird mix of my parents...but I have to just guess about the ok thing, even though I'm now oldish. Now I'm just ok to me. Which is ok. Heh-heh...And it really is. ![]()

Went to concerts. My Dad saw The Doors in Detroit.
Traveled the world. Sadly, I commute like they did. Something I was trying to avoid.
