Imagine anyone with breasts wearing that monstrosity. Or even half a breast.

Some of the Target stuff was cute though.

I started writing another post saying something similar, but then I accidentally closed the tab. Boo... but perfect observation, IMO.

It's actually the other part of what I wanted to post earlier. I am absolutely positive he was brought on to re-brand Liz Claiborne, which IMO, is a name that is rarely mentioned when it comes to high fashion any more. Not that I'm some expert... just someone on the fringe that pays attention here and there.

I like the use of Polka Dots, but there's nothing really interesting about the outfits themselves - well maybe the bit of flounce in the one skirt. The stripes might be fun to wear to an 80's revival, but still this all seems to safe. I think the collections done for target were much more fashion forward

I disagree. I think it is cute, fresh, very "Isaac". I see a definite flow from his Target days to this. The big flowers, mix of patterns, past trends redefined (I totally pick up a '70s vibe with the spring collection).

I really, really like looks #3, #9 and look #14 (in the Spring 2009 look book). #9 is the diagonal dress that is already for sale but paired with a windowpane plaid coat lined in polka dot fabric (much better than with the matching jacket). Love it.

I haven't looked at Liz Claiborne for years but I would totally wear lots of this stuff (the polka dots notwithstanding), I think that's their idea here...it's not your mother's Liz.

I also thought it looked like a clown outfit.

My major education on clothing is from What Not To Wear, and from the looks of it, Isaac hasn't watched it. These clothes are shapeless. I guess that's what's in right now, but I'm still addicted to structured outfits which actually flatter me. Even though I have small boobs I think these outfits look lame.

If it would look good on anyone, it would be you, but I also say lame.

Polka dot dress/skirt is a miss. Interestingly, neither of those appear in the Spring look book.

Last year, Liz Claiborne had the divine Tim Gunn fronting their design team. That's not really an accurate way to say that ... it was more that he was the figure head tastemaker for the company. He allowed his name and image to be associated with the clothes but most of those clothes seemed so unworthy of the Tim Gunn Seal of Approval. But Tim Gunn is old, and I can say this as pretty much his contemporary. Even though my daughters love "Project Runway", they could care less if Tim Gunn says Liz Claiborne is okay.

Isaac Mizrahi is going to be a dab of wasabi in the big vat of mayo that is Liz Claiborne. It will be fun to watch him having fun.

I didn't particularly care for this stuff - I like structure better. Flowy stuff that's big enough for my bottom half hangs horribly on my shoulders, and even though my middle is far from small, it's not as big as my bottom half, so if it doesn't have a semblance of 'shaping' it adds pounds (if the shoulders even fit.)
