For some, I suppose.

Dagburn protesters! My favorite burrito place was closed today for 'Day Without an Immigrant'! D'oh! So, I had to settle for Chinese Fast Food. Ugh.

GD and I headed home as soon as we heard. I'm glad we did, because with a stroke you never know the consequences. Seeing him made us feel much better. He's still the same old dad he's always been, thank God, joking around with us. He's having some short term memory problems and can't stand up at the moment, but apparently he's improving in other areas and things look generally positive.

Thanks for the good wishes.

I'm sitting at my desk, it's about 4pm now... And the office gets quiet (for the first time all day) and suddenly I hear Kylie Minogue coming from my desk drawer. It seems that I left my iPod running all day. I got here at 8am! D'oh!
My battery's toast for today.

Hey all, thanks for the thoughts and prayers.

I can't even begin to catlog the emotions I've been going through. I've just talked to my mom, and he continues to improve. They've done an MRI and confirmed that it was a clot stroke (as opposed to a bleeding stroke, which is good) near the vision center of the brain (his vision has been blurry). Still awaiting tests to determine where the clot came from (heart, carotid artery, or within the brain), which will determine future course of action. Meanwhile, he's walking now, even taking stairs, so that's great news. Still having some memory issues, but some of the small stuff he was having trouble with yesterday is back.

And speaking of those little memory gaps, under the heading of finding humor in anything, one of the questions he couldn't answer (I presume it was part of the standard, "What day is it?" questioning) was, "Who is our current President?" So later, when we were visiting and he reported that het thought his vision was a little better, my mom decided to see if his memory was improving as well. So she asked, "Do you unfotunately remember the President's name?" He thought about for a little bit, and, clearly struggling, finally says, "Nincompoop. Dorkbutt." We declared him cured. (He's rememberd today, btw).

That's just awesome!!! LOL!!

On a serious note, I hope he fully recovers soon. And I'm sending you and CP lots of restful energies and hugs. I know this is not a fun thing to endure.

Glad to hear the positive news! And if the worst side effect of all of this is that he can't remember this president, he's a lucky man.

Seriously though, I'm really happy to hear that things weren't as bad as they could have been.

(Very glad as well, GD&CP!)

So, today was a very productive day. Had an appt with a PT- got fitted for orthotics for my poor feet, and I love them. (Tori had to get them last week- a hereditary thing with the feet). Then, we raced home, grabbed Smelly Mellie and took her to the pet salon, where she got 'the works' and some very pretty yellow bows as well. (Smells much better now). I went shopping while she was at the groomers and got new shoes, a new comforter and the 'Bullet in a Bible' Green Day dvd. Tori got a porcelain Disney doll (Snow White) and a hula-hoop. My hips cannot remember how to operate the damn thing, though.
