Music Choice Blues has been very fun today. This morning, I found out that there's a blues song called "Big Ovaries, Baby!" by Gaye Adegbalola. It's got some great lyrics, including...
"I got big ovaries, baby....big enough to speak my mind... I'll fight for my rights, cuz, bitch is my middle name!" |

Listen to Alberta Hunter's My Handy Man Ain't Handy No More from Amtrack Blues:
("...he churns my butter, and he strokes my fiddle...he threads my needle, creams my wheat, heats my heater, and he chops my meat...and do you know?...sometimes, he's up way before dawn, busy cleaning the rough edges off my lawn...") The double entendre is delightful! |

Yeah, they overplayed it, and yeah, it's old already, but every time I hear this song I get it stuck in my head and I'm glad of it. The lyrics are so spot on.
Sometimes I feel the fear of uncertainty stinging clear. And I cant help but ask myself how much I'll let the fear take the wheel and steer. It's driven me before, it seems to have a vague, haunting mass appeal Lately I'm beginning to find that I should be the one behind the wheel. Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there! With open arms and open eyes, yeah. Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there, I'll be there. So if I decide to waiver my chance to be one of the hive Will I choose water over wine and hold my own and drive? It's driven me before, it seems to be the way That everyone else get around Lately, I'm beginning to find that when I drive myself, my light is found. Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there! With open arms and open eyes, yeah. Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there, I'll be there. Would you choose water over wine? Hold the wheel and drive.
