Out of curiosity is there a reason for the gift exchange or is it simply because you're on a boat together?
But the cramming of events into every moment is one reason I avoid large group vacations. |

One of the other boards my huby is part of is doing the gift exchange. I being the nice wifey type am doing the bags and decorating the fish extender for the exchange. It was a group thing and you can participant or not.
Plus, we are doing things we didn't have time to do on the repo in May.

And seems particularly anathema to my philosophy of luxury cruising, which involves the highest possible ratio of food and drink consumed vs. energy expended.

I'm guilty of cramming my vacations. My mom used to do it, too. On the repo cruise I did pretty well at balancing the "gotta do everything" with "do absolutely nothing more strenuous than lift my drink" ideas.
Laura, have fun on your cruise! And say hi to your hubby from Shawn and me! **Hugs**

A cruise is a different story. It's the one vacation I seem to be perfectly willing to just completely switch off and do absolutely nothing of value for endless hours. Although when I do shore trips, I'm insistent that they involve something more than hanging around the crappy port area shopping for crap and preferably involve some sort of physical activity (throwing back 10 shots of tequila on a 9AM tequila factory tour constitutes physical activity, yes?).

See, I've never been on a cruise but your way, GD, is exactly how I think it should go.
When I'm on a vacation, yep, try and get up and do everything we can because, I guess, usually we only have so much time there. Then we move on. On a cruise, heck, the vacation is always with you so there shouldn't be any stress. Sounds divine. ![]()

Well, my vacations tend to be very active and busy. Just not pre-planned activities and business. That's what comes with a big group, the need to plan out everything.

Back-story: The area at work where my section is has two single person restrooms. When we moved into the space four months ago, they were labeled “Men” and “Women”. This caused a problem. In our section, we have 30 females, but only four males. The women all complained that this wasn’t fair. So, management ordered new unisex signs for the two bathrooms.
They installed the new signs a few weeks ago, but out of habit, I continued to use the restroom previously designated for men. Today I was forced to use the erstwhile women’s room. Somehow, it felt really weird. I felt like I was trespassing.
