From the look of his fur, he appears to be a Rex or mini Rex.

Does he feel like velvet?

Definitely seems like part rex, but his hair's not quite as super-velvety as rex's I've seen.

Could be a mini then, which is a rex crossbred with a dwarf. If so, he'll have a "double chin" that becomes more prominent as he matures. It looks like he has a slight one already.

Yeah, we're thinking mini rex or mixed. Mom and grandma are small, but don't think I noticed a double chin.

It appears the floor of the rabbit cage is a little blurry, you might want to go in there with a broom and a pair of bi-focals.

Funny you should mention.

For the floor we tried to go with clear polyvinyl stuff from Joann's. I guess you'd usually use it for shower curtains. Seemed perfect since it's crystal clear, easy to clean, and not too slippery for the buns. However, we had to glue pieces together, causing it bunch up, allowing Munchkin to chop a hole in it before it was a week old.

DP - if you can get the plastic totally flat, it should be fine.

Another note for DP: Get a bunch of small, 2" spring clamps. They are perfect for creating doors and roofs you can open and "lock", as well as attaching litter box and food dishes to the cage so bunny can't tip them over. We got ours at Home Depot for like 60 cents apiece in the tools section. Ours are green but I found a pic of a similar clamp online:

While at Camp Swank, we found ourselves wishing we had brought the useful clamps for all kinds of things. Next year, a handful go into our camping gear.

Do you need DP to pick up anything at the supermarket? Evaporated milk? Sugar cane? Circus peanuts?

Ah...nice to step into the LoT after a long day at work. You guys are always good to lift my spirits. Or even rile me up, need be.

The Hubster loves those darn clamps. He buys them for work a half dozen at a time.

Congrats on the new bunny!!
