We dropped our daughter off at college on Friday.
She told me not to even think about putting my sewing machine in her room. Do I listen or do I ignore? |

I think the sewing machine will stay where it is. Thanks for the input, everyone. Most appreciated. |

Either that or be prepared to move it back out, but I'd suggest waiting until she's done with college. My mom left *my room* alone until we were sure I wasn't coming back (and they remodeled the kitchen eliminating my moms sewing space). It's a sense of security, knowing you have a room still.

Swing Swank
|
There's breaking news on that front which I'm still trying to process. I went to the dance last night and found out the church where they've been holding classes and dances for 20 years or more is not renewing the lease with PBDA. So the last dance there is next Saturday. The church got a new pastor last year who apparently was not happy that all these non-church events were taking up so much time in the building. They stopped letting us use it on Sunday afternoons and now they don't want us at all.
Contigency plans are already in place. Saturday night dances will now be at another church in Old Pasadena. They had the Halloween dance there last year and I didn't like it that much. Parking was great: there's a parking garage right next door and they validate but the hall was kind of awkward. The biggest problem was the lights. The spotlight on the stage also shone right in your eyes if you were dancing in front of the stage (which is usually the best place to dance). And the house lights took forever to turn on or turn off so they had to leave the dance floor with the lights down all evening. Mostly it didn't feel like home but I guess we have to make it our new home now. I've been going to the other place for nine years now so I do feel like I'm getting kicked out of my home. It's short notice but next Saturday (the 30th) is supposed to be Disney-themed. Everyone is supposed to wear their ears and other Disney logo wear and they'll probably have some Disney trivia questions during the breaks. And Erin (one of the sisters who run PBDA) will play some of her Disney swing songs during the band breaks. (Erin's a big Disney fan. When she teaches a class on Mickey's birthday she asks everyone to wear their ears to class.)

oh wouldst that it were so so far... -kitchen cleaning...well sorta. tidying anyway so people dont trip over stuff -1.5 loads of laundry (to be continued) -6 emails -8 texts -jumpstarted my truck from sitting too long -(nearly) dropped an engine on my foot from about 3 feet in the air. good thing my ninja like reflexes got me out of the way (actually it rather abruptly PUSHED me out of the way as it fell) -solo unload of my truck (offloading said engine and accessories) -played automobile roulette moving the cars around in the yard so I can get to the gate. -repair the gate. ![]() ..and it's only 1pm still to come... -move a giant chair out of storage to its new owners pad -groceries -blah -blah -blah so, a wee bit of weekend boredom would be welcome at this point ![]()
