Shopping update:

I've now seen 2 Mervyn's with "Store Closing" signage up. Leads me to believe it's system-wide possibly. 20-50 percent off, probably get more w/time.

Sport Chalet: has E-Z ups (quick shade brand actually) for $70! Also has the super camping grill for $129

Yes, they went into Chapter 11 last month.

But currently they are closing only 26 stores, mostly in California, Arizona, and Texas.

Facts I just learned looking that up: Mervyn's was founded here in the East Bay and until 2004 was owned by Target. Fact you just learned about Mervyn's: for my first wedding we registered at Mervyn's; I had no idea what a charger is, had no idea why we would want one, and after that argument just walked around lettering her put anything she wanted into the registry without comment.

I bought a lamp for my sewing room today but it doesn't work. Of course I figured that out after I took it out of the box and broke down all the cardboard. I got in back in the box in a reasonable fascimile of how it started so that I can return it. But I really didn't want to run any errands tomorrow.

And I have a sewing room! It still needs a lot of work (paint, new curtains, minor stuff like that) but I boxed up everything that's still being stored in there and pushed the boxes against the wall. I got a desk at IKEA for my sewing machine and now I'm ready to go. Except for the lighting issue.

I have a new camera! It doesn't appear to be as user-friendly as the previous one but I'm sure I can figure it out.
