I have seen shows where it is no doubt a 100% tribute to the diva being imitated. (One I remember was a wonderful tribute to that blue diva in The Fifth Element. The performer was a huge fan of the film. She was awesome and a dead on match to the actress in the film.)

I have seen shows where it is mockery. (Someone dressing up as Amy Winehouse staggering around the stage.)

Sometimes it is both.

Some are merely being themselves on stage, feeling more comfortable wearing a dress and singing or lip syncing.

Actually, from all the drag shows I have seen, I can't think of one where it was a man portraying a woman to put down that woman for being a woman.

I find JWBear's avatar VERY sexy. Also, Pitt and Clooney. Definately. But then I also find Hugh Lawry (sp?) who plays house sexy too.

From numerous industry folks I've spoken with, they've all pretty much said that wedding videographers are generally thought of as a joke and not very respected when it comes to "real" work like television series, etc.

Well, one of the videographers on a wedding board that I frequent landed a nicely paying television series editing gig that will be airing later this fall, and all he had to show for a reel was his wedding stuff, because it's all he's ever done. (And he's local to here, so it's not like he resides in a small market with almost no competition.)

Now, I'm just totally confused.

Should I risk showing some of my wedding stuff on my reel? Or in the very least, include it on my samples DVD as "extra" chapters?

Maybe it's that weddings show that we know how to tell a story? Is that it??

I'm going to look over his wedding samples and see what the connection is... if any.

I would try a shorter reel with whatever you have this isn't weddings, plus a longer one with, send them out in equal numbers and see what gets the best response, the shorter one w/out weddings or the fuller one with.

I believe the 24 preview is in the padding at the end of the repeat of the Fringe pilot. So if it isn't listed explicitly in the listings you'll want to look closer there.

I'm not thinking so much of drag shows as of gay parades where the fellows walk along dressed in conservative dresses and heels while carrying a prim handbag. I can find it funny, but I'm never entirely sure what the joke is, and there does seem to be an element of scorn there.

Hugh Lawrie is sexy because he's reasonably handsome and does a number of things well--acting, music, writing. In the same vein, George Clooney's attractiveness has increased as his acting and general body of work have improved. I'm afraid Brad Pitt's personal relationships have diminished his attractiveness to me. He treated Gwyneth terribly, there always seemed something shallow about his relationship with Jennifer, and he seems slightly diminished by Angelina.

I found Hugh Laurie more attractive when he was in Blackadder.
