Well, yeah, but my point is that I don't want her to know or even think chores are hazardous. Then the calls to child protective services start and it's nothing but trouble afterwards.

If she doesn't know she's a slave is she really a slave?

And Blueerica, there's about a ten year investment with the kids prior to them being worth anything in terms of work, and 12 before they really become an asset. And then when they turn 13 (or so I've heard) they realize they don't like the slave thing, and then it's a hassle.

Whew! We seem to have got Buster to the vet in time. His kidney levels are a bit elevated but that should lower without a problem. The main thing is that I have to change his food, which means changing ALL of the cats' food. This should be a noisy couple of days.....MEOW WHERE'S MY OCEAN FISH????MEOW!

Maybe that's what Charlie is saying in WB's avatar?

As an addendum to my story, I should point out that a few years ago a dropped a ceramic dish while doing the dishes. My lightning-fast reflexes enabled me to grab it before it hit the bottom of the basin but unfortunately not before it hit the divider between the two basins. A nice deep gash gave me the unique ability to examine the muscles and tendons in my hand. A quick trip to the ER got me off dishwashing detail for months.

I'm slowly but surely proving that I am unable to do household chores.

I cut my leg to the bone when I was 10. I saw how my knee works up-close. All this thanks to a Lowenbrau bottle that I broke open with my knee when I fell into a river. My knee looked like it was a mouth puking ketchup and cottage cheese all over the place.
