Thank you all for the cheery birthday wishes! I had a lovely and relaxing weekend. I went on the hunt for some ZZZs that had been missing since I got sick in Florida last week. Having seized that treasure with both fists, we then spent some time enjoying the HDTV we got for Christmas (but only actually got in time for the Oscars.)

Sunday we spent the day celebrating, knowing that today would involve long hours of work stress. We had a delicious brunch at Alcove, finally snagging a seat at the infamous chess table, with its drawers devoid of rooks and knights – stuffed instead with anonymous letters, notes and poems. It’s like a tangible postsecret or Found Magazine.)

Having devoured my salmon scramble (and de-voyeured the drawer contents) we moved on to the Griffith Observatory. We had visited once since the renovation, but I had been ill that day and, due to our late bus arrival, we had missed the planetarium show. So we headed straight for the show, treated to a very confusing audio sensation. The host for our show had the absolute strangest voice I’d ever heard. I imagine she was exaggerating for dramatic effect, but she was truly overexaggerating every possible syllable, tone and volume swooping up and down every other word. If I were a comedienne, I would have spent the rest of the day trying to recreate it, turning it into a sketch where the planetarium host becomes increasingly unintelligble. Alas, I am not a comedienne. Paging the Vanity Fair cover girls...

From there we hit our favorite movie haunt, the Arclight, to check out two girly flicks (Miss Pettigrew Lives For a Day, and Penelope) and partake of popcorn. All in all, a lovely day. And today appears to be just a nice, with surprise computer notes awaiting me in the wee hours, surprise flowers from a thoughtful friend on my desk, and general good cheer.

Happy Today-Day! Sounds like a lovely weekend, the only thing I can think of that you missed was the Larchmont Village Farmer's Market on Sunday!

What was the name of Planetarium Woman? I have a friend that works up there, and we've talked about one, particular, actress. I wonder if you got her, or if she's got an imitator now.
