It's amazing where you can find space to stash things in a power plant. I spent the day in a room carved into the base of a smokestack. We got to chose between leaving the door open to the deafining sounds of the steam turbine, or close the door and work in a sauna. It's 85 degrees and the plants are putting in their all to keep those A/C units going.

I went back to my hotel, took advil, showered off the sweat and coal dust, and tried to chill as best I could. I think tonight I will sleep well.

Do not read it. Seriously.

But if you find you're just dying of curiosity, I'll send you my copy. No reason to go spend money on that one.

P.S. Will people stop replying to threads just before me so that I have to go back and edit to put in the relevant quote? That's the second time that's happened--either that or I need to quit replying to BarTopDancer.

I found three.

There is Meg: A Novel of Deep Sea Terror

The female Meg is pregnant and hungry and far too large to be contained. This first novel offers nonstop excitement, as Taylor and other scientists try to corral the beast, while idiotic tourists and news crews flock to the scene to watch. Only Taylor understands the size, power, and ferocity of the Meg. Meg is slated to become a Disney movie, and there should be immense demand*. Buy multiple copies.

*New Line Cinema. Slated for 2008.

Then there is The Trench
and Meg: Primal Waters

Same author. Three books about the same name (I hesitate to call him a character). They go in the order you listed. I've read the first two. The first is kind a funny in a sad way. The second may be the best example of bad writing I've ever seen.

Flippyshark can tell you more about the status of the movie. I'm not nerdy enough to look that up.

Why anyone would need to buy multiple copies of a book because it's supposedly being made into a movie beats me. That makes no sense.

Uh, because it's Library Journal, read by collection development librarians at underfunded public libraries who have to predict which new books people are going to want to read all at the same time?

Oh.

Still, no library needs one copy of that book, let alone multiple copies.

I think you created a monster in me (pun quasi-intended). I want to read all three books and I'll probably end up renting the movie, as it seems as if it is going to be one of those end of the world disaster flicks that I so enjoy (Day After Tomorrow, etc...).

PM me your address and the first book is all yours.

But you're not allowed to send it back.
