Swing Swank

Premium. I haven't used it as much the past few years but I like the convenience of not having to think about whether it's a blackout day or not. When I was a kid we had maybe one visit a year and it still feels like a fabulous luxury to be able to go whenever I want. Lately I usually go on Saturday nights to dance to Stompy Jones so blackout dates would impact my fun.
I also miss that we don't get together at the parks so often these days.

SoCal, and the only reason we renewed when we did was that we had to visit the park with GD's sister. It was the day after ours expired.
I do not go often for a very simple reason. I'm bored of it. Whenever I ponder going I think "what will I do there?" After our last time when the line for TSMM was an hour long and we skipped it, it became apparent that there's no reason for me to attend. I have the place memorized. I'd rather do pretty much anything else, 99% of the time. I still see swankers regularly, so I have no issues with letting go. Oh, and we are still attending MA, and it would be hard to let go of that. That would probably be our very last thing to drop regarding the park.

There's no law saying we can't set up a generally-acceptable monthly meet or something. Say, the first Sunday of the month at Carnation Plaza?

Kink of Swank

I think I enjoy the Jazz Kitchen more than I do Disneyland.
But I've had Disneyland "memorized" since before most of you were born. I get bored of it quite regularly ... and actually let my AP lapse for a 3-year period just before I met most of you. It was the best thing I ever did, considering I enjoyed for a good spell with the LoT gang afterwards. I'm pretty bored with it again. But if I have soup, I like to be able to park for free and go in the Park for a single attraction and a look around. I just wish we had replaced The Resort with Something Else. And I think the reason we stuck with it even as long as we did is there's nothing else exactly that hangoutable on a repeating basis. Oh well. I'll likely go while K!'s in town in a couple of weeks, then Lashvisit, then MA, and I think I'm waaaaay overdue for Soup Kitchen with Isaac, so I just might be visiting the Park as much in the next month as I have the entire first 11 months of this year's AP. You know, I can't say I miss the meets. I miss seeing as many people as we used to see, but I do not miss being in a large group at Disneyland. It lost its luster for me and I've had my fill of it for a LONG time. Unfortunately, as iSm points out, there just isn't anything that can really fill that void with something I'm not burned out on while offering the opportunity to be with the group.

As much as I like Disney, I like art and music more - so I continue to post about such things and even put a few on the calendar. They rarely turn into large meets, but I think they are just as fun. We've done camping trips, museum visits, concerts, El Cap screenings, game nights, etc. I suppose Disney is the common denominator among most of us, but there are so many cool things going on in the area.
Then again, for me it's always been more about the people than the park, which is why this place exists, so we can continue to connect and interact, even if we can't be at the hub at noon every Sunday.

After visiting Magic Mt we're tending to head back to our home park. I for one am Disney'd out locally speaking. With the huge crowds lately and the birthday Celebration and 2fer offerings. Nothing new at Disneyland and the way that park looks and feels compared to Magic Mt. It's getting longer between visits. Between vacation in June and other interests that we splurdge in not really missing Disneyland all that much.
One can get a season pass for Magic Mt, Universal Studios and Knott's Berry Farm all for the low price way below the Premium Season Pass that Disneyland offers. Our passes expire in August so if we renew we are doing the monthly payments rather than putting down the whole entire lump sum which we do not have nor will have when the renewing time comes. I don't see us eliminating Disney completely either since we always have a good time there. Plus next year i'm probablly going to have out of towners visit so definitely need a pass. I do and don't miss the meets. I used to be able to have Sundays free and the meets were no problem. Then working on Sundays for a long while. Now that i do not work on Sundays it's great to have Sunday's off (now the car needs to be saved a bit from driving so far). Let's not start about food on property either. |
