I tried to frame some posters for Nick's room. I think I just figured out why Michael's frame dept dose so much business.

I would say that your radio is broken

No, no stuck CD. Yes, we'd mastered the broken part. This is not nearly as entertaining as the time only one side of speakers died in my old Sentra. Can't remember which side, but it was which ever side had the main vocals for the White Album. In-car karaoke. It was cool for awhile.

Any ideas that might allow us to pinpoint the specific broken bits and perhaps not spend hundreds of dollars getting some widget tightened or loosened or whatever?

Does the static sound come from the back of the radio, or the speakers?
Does it do the same thing with the engine on or off?
Is it repeatable?
Will it do the same thing with a CD inserted?
Has there been any work done on the car recently?

Sooo....

Last week the kid had a wellness check and had to get several boosters, which was not fun but she handled it much better than she did when she was smaller. They also tried to give her a booster for a shot that she'd never had, based on the fact that kids with cochlear implants have to have this shot, which is cool, except she doesn't have an implant.

The PA wasn't happy- they very nearly gave her the shot, and it is a risky one only intended for special circumstances. Luckily I was able to prove that she is in fact implant-free.

So, monday she had an appointment with a podiatrist, for what we thought was a consultation. But, noooo.... they took one look at her ingrown toenails and decided to take 'em out. Many shots, much blood (she's a bleeder) and two big honking bandages later and she was able to hobble out of the office. I was really proud of her- it's really not a pleasant thing to go through, but she was a trooper. Cost me lunch at Sonic, a Halloween costume and no homework for two days, but she says her feet already feel a bunch better. Her cat keeps trying to attack the bandages, though.

It comes from the back of the car, so I'm guessing speakers.
Nothing happens with the engine off.
Repeats every time you attempt to turn the stereo on.
Yes.
Not really. New battery about a month ago, but that's it.

After this happens, does the radio appear to be acting normally? i.e can you change stations, you just don't get any sound out of the speakers?

Does your owner's manual mention an amplifier and its location? The amplifier takes the signal from the radio and amplifies it for the speakers. If the radio appears to be working but no sound, it could be that there is a problem with the amplifier. Sometimes the amplifier is located under the driver or passenger seat. If you have one, and it's located under a seat, check the connectors to make sure they are fully seated, and haven't been knocked loose.

Wow! Glad she's doing okay, I don't know that I would be!

I'm asking, how'd she not get a deal for American Girl goods out of this? Lunch at Sonic? She's being a cheap date!

What the heck with the shot situation? Happened to me once, too. Poor kids, like they need extra shots AND the risk situations??? Yeah for you, Mom!

Poor kiddo. I always worry about the kids toes. Cutting the nails properly or remembering to. Geesh, so many toes, how can I remember them all?

What a trooper. Tell her she has impressed this ol' MouseWife.

And, Prudence, sorry about the radio issues. Seriously.
