A long distance move like that, alone, is stressful. Accept offers of help when they come your way.

Stuff will work itself out. All will be well.

Hmmmm, perhaps the advice in this recent thread will prove helpful in your situation.

And I've got a dog you can walk, and a really uncomfortable couch you can sleep on any time. Oh, and how crappy a car can you handle? I mean, I've actually got a lead on a used car for sale, dirt cheap, that's in very good shape and has very few miles on it .... for how freaking OLD is it is (1989 Toyota).

In between breathing and staying busy with the million things you'll have to do to move, take time to recall all the love and support waiting for you at your destination. I mean, I'll do any freaking thing for you ... and I am but one lowly charter member of the Brad Fan Club (So.Cal. Chapter)

Having just done the cross country move myself. As has been said before, make a list. Then, start pitching stuff. I found stuff in boxes from my move from CA to VA and all that hit the dumpster (or thrift shop). Even so, as I am unpacking and organizing, I'm still shocked at how much crap came with me. No doubt you will too.

The car will work itself out. I needed a car in VA when I got there and found a huge honking Chrystler New Yorker for $600 that served me very well until I got my current set of wheels.

Not to mention the LA chapter of Craig's list is awesome.

It's scary and exciting and as iSm said, you have a huge supportive group waiting for you to come home to CA. There's going to be a whole mess of people with cheshire cat grins ready to greet you and help you find a place/find a job and unpack and get settled! Take all the help you can get.

I have a '96 Cavalier you can have. It runs, just needs a new waterpump.

Dude, what color? I had the green, 4 door. Great little car. I sold it in '03, but I know it's still running because I sold it to a maintanance guy from our apartment complex, so I see it around occasionally.

Also green, but a 2 door.

ETA: there seem to be a lot of green cavaliers around. There are 2 others in my neighborhood!

Those '96's sold like mad. Bought mine near the end of the model year, had a hard time finding the color. They were EVERYWHERE on the road when I got mine.

Thanks for the advice, y'all. I appreciate it.

Green 1996 Chevy Cavalier, eh? Hmmm.

I'm working on my list as we 'speak'.
