No, they haven't seen them yet.

They were canceled one night, another night we were at the JK (and we saw them from the balcony). This is really their only opportunity.

On the subject of dinner, a 7:45 start means that Isaac and I can make it in time. We are happy and sad to say farewell to the Lashes, and simply plain happy to welcome dlrp bobazot.

On the subject of Mark's suggestion ... please let me know exactly where I was unkind.

We wanted to watch fireworks in the Park this past weekend. Made Soup Kitchen ressies one hour earlier than the big group, were seated on time. Big Group arrived. Fun ensued. Fireworks from the Park well planned for ... never happened.

Was that too cruel? I thought it was an obvious lightheartedness, tinged with truth and humor. Wrong??

Apparently Mark misinterpreted, because he responded:

Anyway, I know you're going through a rough patch, but please don't jumpt to the wrong conclusions. The reason I posed for fireworks not being probable had everything to do with commonly-experienced Resort time management, and nothing to do with thinking your idea unworthy.

I honestly believe I was being very considerate, and no I don't think I could have or should have phrased things differently. I'm not the most beat around the bush guy, but I extended Mark every courtesy I felt appropriate under his circumstances.

But there's only so far I will coddle.

I think the "get a grip" was a bit more than required.

Agreed.

iSm, how would you have felt if someone told you to "get a grip" after you barfed/choked/went hysterical on the evening of the Yosemite hiking fiasco? If that wasn't over-reaction, then why weren't the other four just as dramatic, even though they all experienced the exact same traumatic scenario?

Yet, no one would have said that to you, because you were noticeably upset. Maybe you actually deserve the same level of "coddling" as you're willing to extend to others.

Ahem.

Borneo overreacted to iSm's innocuous posts. iSm overreacted to Borneo's overreaction to iSm's innocuous posts. Other people overreacted to iSm's overreaction to Borneo's overreaction to iSm's innocuous posts. Everybody involved feels completely justified in their overreaction because someone else in the equation overreacted beforehand, here, in another thread, at another elevation, whatever.

Could we all just git a grip, please? Just stop talking about it, and it's no longer a problem.

Really, telling me I was punching him in the face doesn't deserve a "get a grip."

ooookkaaay.

And I won't deny an over-reaction at the cabin ... but the other four did not react in any such way because they did not believe themselves to be the CAUSE of the traumatic situation, whereas I did.

In any event, when Bill was sweet enough to comfort me when I ran from the room crying at the reminder of a traumatic moment of horrible guilt, he could well have told me to get a grip - and I would have understood that to mean I was over-reacting. I wouldn't have thought it cruel. Maybe it's a boy thing.

It's not code. And I don't think it's the horribly cruel barb some people are making it out to be. It's certainly blunt and direct. A lot less blunt and direct than a punch in the face.

Point taken. So, I've made a note of who deserves my sympathy and who doesn't in future situations, based on how thick-skinned the person is. Yeah, I'm a bitch sometimes.

Back on topic.

So, are we meeting outside the restaurant, or what name is the ressie under?
