				            | I didn't feel like starting a thread about it, but I thought it was incredibly cool that I was able to instantly donate money to the Red Cross Haiti earthquake relief effort by texting the word HAITI to 909-99. It donates ten bucks and puts it on your next phone bill. You can do it three times for any one phone user. Lazy do-goodery at its best. I encourage you all to do the same. (It beats simply ranting about what a crazy fvck Pat Robertson is, which I was tempted to do, but this parenthetical mention is more than that deserves.) |

| Eyes like Sapphires! | I guess I'm not that trusting....that is to text my money in hopes it reaches the right people.

				            | The 909-99 is legitimate and goes to Red Cross (I had doubts too), but in general it is a good idea to investigate any online charity requests (or people in the street, calling, knocking on the door) before giving. |

Here's the original article at Bankrate.com, and it has all 10 items. The one missing from the Fox site: Energy largesse. Through Dec. 31, 2010, homeowners who buy and install specific energy-efficient windows, insulation, roofs, doors and heating and air-conditioning equipment can get a 30 percent tax credit for up to $1,500 of their costs on each product. | |
