Actually, friends, I think they have a minuscule kosher section, squeezed somewhere between Asian and (non-Italian) Mediterranean, sharing space (of course) with Indian.

Sarcasm aside, my best chances of finding "exotic" foods is at Harmon's... my favorite store in Utah. They have a wonderful selection.

I'm sure it was actually halal but they didn't want to scare away those well known Sonoma County birthers. So what better way to hide the Muslimosity of our president while simultaneously reaffirming our special relationship with Israel.

Speaking of which, I didn't know this before this morning but Rahm Emanuel should be put in charge of all conversations with Israel's government just so he can reaffirm them by saying "hey, you can trust me, I'm so on your side my middle name is Israel."

So the new dog makes one step forward and one step back.

He's learned to walk on a leash properly (we'll see if he remembers today). He's learning not to walk across my path. He's learned if he sits and is cute he'll get petted (as opposed to spazzing and getting in the way, trying to get attention).

But now he's jealous of our other dog and is chasing the cat. Today he got into a bag of raisins; I don't think he ate many.

So we continue with the training. Well, that never ends, but the initial adjustment training does. Kind of.

I swear that Kimchi changed every few days for the first few months. She ignored the cats for a full 2 months then suddenly decided they were a fun toy (and brought Thurston along for the ride).

Even though your puppy wasn't abused, he wasn't really trained or given boundaries, so you get the fun of dealing with that.

He's pretty darned cute, though.

Honey, if they sell matzoh ball soup mix here - and they do, it's in my cupboard at all times - they sell it in Utah.

However.

Our local bakery calls bialys "baileys" and the "bagels" are just round rolls with a hole in the middle.

Thanks, Lisa. I'm hoping he'll relax and get used to the cat and let her inside. As it is, she'll only come inside for a few minutes in the evening to eat. I'm trying to be easy with him, since so much has changed, but he needs to learn the new rules.
