There are more places to discover here and I'll be sure to post them upon finding them. I've been enjoying my cocktails on my back patio lately though, cheaper and I can pick my own music and I can take a dip if it gets too hot
Roadhouse, same parking lot as Chuy's, has good food and better drinks. Their Roadhouse Koolaide is killer!! Stay away from the one at California and 99, it is NOT the same.

We "regulars" of the other Chuy's call the one you are referring to as the Disney Chuy's. It is huge. I prefer our little hole in the wall on this side of town... it is a lot like the old TV show Cheers. You walk in and everyone knows you and the bartenders have their drinks waiting for you when they see your car in the lot.

About the only place we go out to drink to is Chuy's-every Friday night.

I attempted to add to the tally tonight. But what had be a perfectly fine pub, complete with English-style bar taking up much of the limited space, has added a live deejay and stuffed itself full of people whose major intellectual accomplishment is walking upright.

Grrrr.

So much for George and the Dragon.

I forgot to add that for a locally owned place Mauricio's sux.
There is a place called La Colonia on the east/central part of town that is really really good. The only problem is that it is in a verrrrrrrrrry bad area. It is surrounded by 20' walls topped with razor wire. dsnylndmom, if you have heard of the Cottonwood area, that is where it is/was located. It is not a part of town you want to visit if you are unfamiliar with the area.

Had a couple Manhattans at a swanky place by the airport last night. It was a perfect way to end the evening.

Vegas!!!

So went to Vegas July 15 for a fun filled weekend. Had a BLAST!!! I have to report the best thing about Vegas is my still favorite top ranking minibar - Fat Tuesdays! I LOVE ME SOME FAT TUESDAYS!!! Whenever I go to Vegas it's the first stop right when we get to town. It is located in the strip mall in the MGM (also the Aladdin & Caesers but MGM is so much easier to get to). Yes, I know, I've already stated my love of FAT TUESDAY'S somewhere around here but I have to say it again, with feeling.

Friday night we went to Studio 54 in the MGM hotel. I like Studio because of the two levels with a variety of dance area and bars. Plus, Studio has a "floor show" in the sky with girls and guys doing trapese. It's a must see.

Saturday we went to the Palms. Luckily a friend of ours works at the hotel as a bartender and hooked us up with cheap drinks early on in the night. We also got into RAIN because of another friend hooking us up with getting us on the VIP list. No Line No Cover. Can't beat that!! Too bad my friend got so drunk that we had to leave early but we had a blast no matter what!!

I actually went somewhere! And had an alcoholic beverage!

Agua Verde is a great little coastal-style Mexican place by the UW that is known for their margaritas, excellent food, and lousy service. I fantasize about them everytime I get take out lunch during the week. But Wednesday night we met my friend and her boyfriend (on 2 weeks leave from the Army; stationed in Iraq) for dinner and we all sampled the beverages.

Venezia and I each had the Margarita Fresa and it was very tasty. Ryan tried the Margarita Toronja and Nigel had a couple top-shelf margaritas of some sort or another. Next time I want to try the tuna-rita. Some of the salsas are free, but the Salsa Mexicana and the Guacamole are extra and they're both worth it. How good is the guac? I didn't even like avacados until I tried theirs.

It's a festive atmosphere with brightly colored walls and a screened porch. You can rent kayaks from the lower level which is on the ship canal. It's very popular so be prepared to wait for a table and don't even think of putting your name on the list until your entire party is there. And you don't get to linger at your table -- you have plenty of time to linger while you're waiting to be served! But afterwards you can go outside to a little park area right next door and watch ducks and kayakers on the canal.

I know just where that place is, Prudence! I've actually rented canoes, raced madly across the canal (avoiding boats) to paddle through the arboretum. Beautiful area.

We had an early dinner at the Karl Strauss brewery at South Coast last night. And we leared that during happy hour (4-6:30 every day, including weekends), pitchers are only $10! Yay!

UvaGirl~ That place looks wicked cool! Very hot! What did you order? Fun cocktails?

I popped in for a birthday party at the Rainforest Cafe last night. I had one drink, some kind of..I don't even know what the fun little themed name of it was, but it was just a glorified MaiTai, really. I don't drink MaiTai's, but it was kind of a fun little drink!
