Hi, my name's Traci and I've never been swank. I drink out of plastic cups whenever possible to avoid doing dishes, I've never had a martini (but I will as soon as I can drink again), I'm wearing sleepy pants and a sweatshirt. I've also never said dig.
I wish I were swank. Sadly, I have no clue how to be. Join me if you aren't swank, or if you have tips for us unswankers as to how to be swank. We can get through this. Really we can.

Hi, I'm MickeyD, and I'm unswank.
I'm really glad that this is An Adventure Thru Inner Swank because, really, if I have any swank at all, it's hiding deep, deep down inside.

Don't let anyone else define it for you, ladies. It's all about you and your own idea of inner-coolness.

Oh, so that's what I'm missing! Yeah, I don't have inner coolness. I only have inner self conciousness and exclusionary paranoia. :P

Inner Swank it is. Don't get let some square's notion of swank be a bring down. At the LoT swank is about feelin' your groove, no matter what that groove may be. It's all barrelhouse here, baby.
We dig that not everyone gets our lingo, but you can slid your jib any way you like. And you can always keep one of these (http://members.aol.com/gethep/jive.html) handy, dig?
Hope you find your groove soon.

If the cool cat's got your tongue, don't let that sweat you none.
Don't be put off by the swank speak we cats in management spew. We're just havin' fun showin' everyone 'round the joint while sharing the style. But as long as you can read it, baby, you don't have to write it.
(Besides, how much longer can we keep it up? It's premier week and we're spreading the news - but even our tongues'll get tied up in time.)

Just get into the swank with a cool tune from Frankie and have yourself a dry martini. A swanky avatar can help you get in the groove. Otherwise, just go with the flow!

Ah, my swank wardrobe.
Well, I've got these nifty brown cords on. Italian shoes with a nifty buckle. A sparkly raven colored sweater. Royal blue earrings and a blue Kanga hat I've had since I was 11.
Glasses, as per usual.
I feel more nifty than swank, but it's a look that works for me, I guess.
But, yesterday, phew. I was frump-ay!
And I can swear like a sailor, which usually sounds more crass than hip-hep-hooray.
Plus, I slouch. It's not very swanky to slouch.

Seriously. I watch some of these anime or adult swin or Yu Ge Goh (?) cartoons and I'm not sure what they're saying, doing or even what certain characters are. I guess I'm just old-fashioned like that. When I sit on my rocking chair to watch cartoons, eating ribbon candy and drinking Nehi soda, I want wholesome Disney, Looney Tunes or Hanna Barera cartoons. :)

There are some really super lame cartoons out there. The kids really enjoy watching The Flinestones, Looney Toons, Tom & Jerry, and Scooby Doo. They like the cartoons on Disney Channel, although I refuse to let them watch Gargoyles and Dave the Barbarian. (OK, we are somewhat careful about the TOm & Jerry cartoons we will let them watch.)
Brian looooves House of Mouse a whole lot. As the kids are waking up in the morning, their cartoon of choice is Baby Looney Tunes. I may be contrived, dumbed down with not so subtle moral of the story endings, but they really like it.

OMG... I have to agree with you there! My son got the duel disk(?), the thing that goes on his arm and holds the cards. He always wants me to play the cards with him. I tell him we'll make a play date with his cousin and he can play all he wants!
I'm glad my boy enjoys the old cartoons.
Back on topic... I don't think I have ever been swank or hip in my life but it sures seems like a lot of fun :o
That YuGiOh! stuff. Just color me confused. I don't see how the kids pick it up so quick.

Oh dear Lord! If everything YuGiOh would suddenly be sucked into a deep abyss somewhere and never surface again, my life would be semi-normal!
Bailey is in utter devotion to all things YuGiOh...which is fine..except sometimes I worry about him. We're trying to steer him towards other things...but he has so many cards, he can't keep track..buys a pack of cards whenever he gets any money...has YuGiOh posters in his room, watches the cartoons, you get the picture!
Seriously though..I worry about kids and their YuGiOh...at Christmas..Bailey's list of wants was mostly YuGiOh rare cards...I had no idea how you got them..so I went into a Game Stop and asked the sales guy behind the counter. The guy is easily in his 30's, portly, no wedding ring..(you can paint the picture! No swank in sight!) Anyway..I inquire about how to best get the cards on Bailey's list...he tells me...
"Well, I might be able to help you. I am something of an expert. I just happen to be the 6 time YuGiOh City Dueling Champion."
Like this was suppossed to impress me!
Hopefully Bailey will further his interests into other things...but I'm sure it'll be awhile!

I bet you just fell over in utter awe at this Dueling Champion! C'mon, admit it!!! ;)
Austin's Christmas list was very specific too about the YuGiOh stuff. I just don't understand it. I guess it's similar to the Pokemon craze from a couple of years ago. He gets so exasperated with me when he gets me to play. "No Mom, you have to play an attack card with three stars not a magic card with two." Or something like that. WTF????? How do you know what card is what and when to play them? I keep thinking "And this too shall pass." No way is going to be the City Dueling Champion at 30! :p

My 4 y/o daughter is really into making things, painting, drawing. Just doing artsy stuff. This I can relate to. Video games and YuGiOh....at least my son has my husband to play with (although he's just as confused with the cards but plays it off better than I do.)

This totally reminds me of the comic shop guy on the Simpsons. I love it when Leonard Nimoy (is that who it was?) comes into the store and makes a joke about the shop guy and he says, "You, mocking me? Oh that is rich!"
