Only if the PC you are attaching it to has USB3 as well.
In general they are fairly generic. One works as good as another. Find one with enough ports and a look you like at a price you like.
However if your pc does not not have USB3 and you are planning on a high use device like an external hard drive, you might want to add a USB3 port to your computer (http://www.amazon.com/Western-Digital-SuperSpeed-Express-PCIe/dp/B004GF1PC2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1350488638&sr=8-1&keywords=usb3) (assuming it's not a laptop).

Thanks Moonie. No, I have USB 2.0 and it is a laptop. I'll hunt around for one with enough ports and a good price point, thanks!

(Details here (http://www.everythingusb.com/24-port-usb-monster-hub-20506.html))
But if that isn't enough, you can get a 49 port hub (http://www.everythingusb.com/49-port-usb-hub-module-16755.html) (alas, it is only USB 1.1).
