Yeah, I know we've got some time but thar be busy days ahead so get this on yer calendars now.

I think a celebration is in order for 2 reasons:

LoT turns 1 year old and
Prudence and Bunny Travolta are in town
So, here's the plan as it stands, man.

Saturday, January 7th

2:00 ish - Meet at the GC (Fireplace outside?) for drinks

5:00 - We find somewhere cool to eat. (Prudence and Bunny Travolta will have dinner at the Vinyard Room - they ARE on vacation after all!)

6ish - We'll secure a spot for fireworks "camping"

Prudence and Bunny will join us after dinner for Swanking and Camping

Yeah, I know details are sparse, but we'll get them flushed out. Just save the date and think warm thoughts for now.

Post if you're up for it or want us to do more funy and fancy free things.

Lisa

I have to tell you that I have a strong Prime-Spot Remember urge, even if it means me camping out and saving space.

Other than that, I'm sure we should swankify our LoT celebration at the resort. But, after the AP Lounge, what other swanky things are there at Disneyland?

I think we could make dinner pretty swanky at Catal - the feline's favorite ... and my post-holiday wallet wouldn't object to me missing that for the sake of fireworks space-saving.

Prudence
01-04-2006, 06:52 PM
I'm not about to object to prime spot space-saving - particularly since we'll be at dinner part of that time, are equipped with the magic cell phone numbers, and have every intention of crashing the prime spot party.

As for breakfast - that's scheduled to be our early entry in to Fantasyland day (or whatever), so we'll definitely be up -- but busy working up our appetite for lunch.

Still planning on 2pm, somewhere GC lobby-ish. Short, fat woman with crazy hair and glasses, accompanied by curly-haired, glasses-wearing tattoed guy wearing man purse...I mean satchel. Either euphoric or exhausted -- you may start the pool now.

or 300.

apparently i was at Plaza Inn while you all were at Space Mountain FastPass line, after fireworks. for some reason, i thought you were planning on watching from top of Mickey and Friends.

i would have loved to have joined you at SM, but, MommaLumbo was done for the day and she barely made it back to the car.

we did hook up with KevyBaby and his lovely bride after fireworks though and surfed the eastside shops - destination Disneyana, where i decided against the $10,000 original drawing. my gosh, i would have only had a $2,000 discount. i couldn't do much with $2,000 anyway.

besides i'm saving my hard earned disney dollars for the PotC themed Johnny Depp underwear comming in June.:p

The photos just made me really hungry, btw. :)

Awww, great pics, Jen- ty! It's makes me sad that I couldn't be there.:(

I am still plotting the American Girl/Uni Studio/ DL trip this next spring, and I really cannot wait to see you all again IRL. Kevy, you and Susan look great, btw! (Actually, everyone does!)

We have the flu, so although we wanted to be there we didn't feel up to driving from Hollywood. We missed you guys, and so sorry we didn't get to meet Pru.

Gah. I'm so freakin' tired. I'm thrilled to have such a flattering photo documenting our grand northwest traditions.

If class is boring tonight (high probability), I'll start writing up my various impressions. Many photos need uploading.

It was quite swanky meeting all y'all. Sorry I bailed rather early at the GCH. Poor BunBun needed a widdoe nappy-poo. He was all tiggered out.

........I'll just leave that one dangling.

....That one also.

The fireworks were way cool, and so were the ones after the "Matterhorn Beeyatch Incident".
(Ask NotAfraid or InnerSpaceMan. I'm sure they'll be happy to tell you the tale.)

Must find a pair of the "Wickedhard Dopefiend Mindbender Glasses" that InnerSpaceMan lent me for the heavy trip on Space Mountain.
Dude!!!! That SO frickin' rocked!!!!!

Stay swanky, cats and kittens.

Oh yes. They took a whole report with our names and addresses and phone number and gave us a free rental. (Of course, that saved us a whole $8.)

As all you DL regulars probably know, the Matterhorn Bobsleds is the fastest loading attraction in the Park. I don't even mind that, decades ago, they joined two bobsleds together in a train that now looks nothing like a bobsled ... because the ride loads so damn fast that I will queue up even if the lines for both tracks meet at the back of the mountain!

In order to maintain this fast load state, the CMs who load the vehicles must be top notch and know what the hell they are doing. They must know their job, or they should not be working the Matterhorn. This is a tale of one young lady who should NOT be working the Matterhorn.

At this point in the evening, around 10:30 p.m., our swanky crew was down to Nine. There are four sections in a bobsled train, for a total of eight sections in the two bobsled trains that are loaded simultaneously at the station. As only two of our crew were going to ride together all cuddly and tight (me and my sweety, zapppop - - who kindly gives me a reach around on the dark lift every time) and the rest were going to ride separately, eight sections were going to be used in total. 1) Zapppop and me; 2) Euro; 3) Not Afraid; 4) Matterhorny Laurie (not a poster on these boards); 5) Prudence; 6) BunnyTravolta; 7) S.Maniac; and 8) lindyhop. Nine people with 2 of them pairing and the rest separate fill two bobsled trains completely. But the CM simply would not comprehend this.

We tried and tried to make her understand, we politely and patiently explained the configuration of bobsleds on her attraction and how we, the guests, would precisely fit into two bobsled trains. She would not get it, and she was pretty darn rude about it.

She had us line up in such a way that we would be riding in bobsleds with other, unknown guests. Uh-uh, no. I let a bobsled be dispatched to the ride half full because I would not board. The CM chastised us, and I again explained to her how nine people, with 1 pairing, fit precisely into 2 bobsled trains - all by themselves - with no room for other guests. Ugh.

But the beeyotch, unbeknownst to me at the time, went to the back of our group and insisted that Pru and Bunny cram together into one bobsled section, and she sent the two trains out with one section completely empty - while two of our party were crammed in so tight they could not breathe.

And, as it turns out, crammed in so tight that BunnyTravolta hurt his knees pretty badly. Again, I wish I'd known that at the time so I could have gotten Beeyotch's name.

'Cause when NA and I went back a few minutes later, after learning about the injury, Beeyotch was nowhere to be found. We asked her fellow CMs about her, we summoned a lead and asked about her. The lead said she had likely gone out on break (too much of a coincidence for me to buy) and refused, flat-out refused, to give us her name.

So it was the lead's name I used in my written complaint at City Hall, only the third CM complaint I have registered in over a quarter century of constant Disneyland attendance.

If I see that Beeyotch at the Matterhorn again, she is going to get quite a mouthful.

Well, that's how Pru and Bunny ended their night. (We urged them to go to First Aid right there and then ... the lead was calling over there to advise of their imminent arrival ... but they declined, and returned instead to the comfort of their firetrap, er, Grand Cal hotel room).

The rest of us took a spin on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride before, oh yeah, heading down to City Hall to file a complaint. Hmmm, I guess it was how we ended our night after all.

Nevermind.

In the interest of accuracy, I should note here that it was the BunBun being all manly man and refusing the first aid. I, on the other hand, got in a fair dose of "told you so" the next day, as I wheeled his ass around the park. The RNs at first aid added a little more for good measure.

In the interest of pointing out random bits of nothing, I will also note that if were inclined (or required) to leap from our balcony into the park, we had the perfect room for doing so. Hmmmmm......

And in yet another tangent -- the Incident did allow us to experience first hand how some CMs react to guests in wheelchairs. From a sociological experiment standpoint, it was very interesting. Some went out of their way to be helpful and make our day easier. Some pretended they couldn't see us. It was an interesting educational experience.

Redskins beat the Bucs. The Redskins come here (Seattle) to play the Seahawks this Sat. (1/14).

Many thanks to ISM and NA for sticking up for me. The knee is better now, thanks, but I will have to see a doc about it, due to some unrelated jabbing pains.
(Man, I hate getting older sometimes.)
And yes, being pushed around in a wheelchair was cool.....for all of ten minutes. Having guests shove me out of their way and having CMs ignore me/sneer at me got old quick.
Many sweet props (yo) to my Cute Kitten Pru for helping her old man out.

Another loading foible of mind. Should have put you in the nosecone, which has slightly better leg room.

From now on, I will more closely monitor the loading process of big groups.

I know I shouldn't, but I feel somewhat responsible for the bangs and bruises.

But now we have an official incident! True, it doesn't involve pancakes or tacos or any other flat, round, starchy foods, but beggars shall not be choosers.

Meanwhile, iSm clearly needs a whistle and clipboard for all future outings. Bonus points for reflective safety vest.

Next time, since it seems my days of winning with the clipboard may be behind me, I will additionally accessorize with the whistle ... to compensate!
