Anyone have suggestions for music I can download to my iPod while I workout?

I'm looking for fun energetic music.

I need to add new stuff to the mix. My Gym Playlist is getting old.

:)

Just about anything off the Cherry Poppin' Daddies "Zoot Suit Riot" disk should do the trick. Always makes me go faster on the treadmill than I thought I could.

Ooh, Chemical Brothers! That stuff really gets me going. "Dig your own hole" and "Push the button" are both great albums. Way back when I used to work out to music I put on "Dig" all the time.

Oh huzzah for this thread. I need major musical motivation for my work out, which always tends to drop dead in its tracks between October and January. I need all the inspiration I can get during the treacherous holiday season of "oh, I'm too busy for that."

For some reason these songs I find to be fun and always seem to energize me - they are all on my current work out CD (not in the Ipod age yet) which I haven't changed in a long time -

I like starting out with "where the streets have no name" (U2) to warm up - starts nice and slow, picks up nicely. Don't know if it's "fun", but it works for me.
Not a hip-hop fan, per se, but I love "Hey Ya" by Outkast.
"Roxanne" - Police
"Drive" - Bobby McFerrin (live version from appearance on SNL)
"Straight to my Heart" - Sting
"Make me Smile" - Chicago
"American Child" - Phil Vassar
"Take me to your leader" - Newsboys
"Frank" - The W's

Gotta have fun tunes to work out to.

Babylon - Faster Pussycat

Hell, if you're going there, go for the New York Dolls original version.

Or, even better, Puss 'n Boots.

I have to agree with those on here who say they need music to get going. Boring without it. I use DVD's when I do the treadmill to have something to look at.

Ooo, Lisa....I like your point of view on Trent...;)

I have quite a few compilations of songs to work out to. Here is a small number:

Black Eyed Peas: Hey Mama, Shut Up

The Cure:Why Can't I Be You?, Just Like Heaven, Friday I'm In Love

Incubus: Megalomaniac

Jet: 'Last Chance', 'Are You Gonna Be My Girl', 'Roll Over D.J.', 'Get What You Need', 'Get Me Outta Here', 'Cold Hard B****', 'Take It Or Leave It'

The Soundgarden song 'Rusty Cage', the way it starts off will get you off of your, um, behind, and get you going every time.

I could go on and on but DEVO is great, System of a Down, Thornley, Velvet Revolver, Green Day {kick a** BarTopDancer, I totally agree}.

Ooo, I think I will mix up my workout selections now. Thanks for the idea. :snap:

Interesting. I don't usually pick individual songs for such stuff. My brain still swivels around albums, even though I have an iPod. I haven't made a single playlist yet.

I like to set my player of choice on shuffle. Therefore, each song has to stand on its own. I can't have a surprise shuffle bringing down the pace.
