There is just no way it's only been a year since this site was started. Too much has happened..

After getting left behind during the exodus from MP, it was nice of a little birdie (actually a veritable flock of little birdies) to clue me in that LoT was coming and save me a spot... :snap: :snap:

Right off the bat the the tone for the site was set (http://www.xenarchy.com/LoT/showpost.php?p=9&postcount=1)by the guru of swank. If this was the rose parade the theme for this year would have been: "A Swanky state of mind"

Surprisingly few tech issued marred the sites arrival, with the able help of ISM and GD the site easily lived up to it's swanky overlay. :snap: :snap:

A few early troublemakers (http://www.xenarchy.com/LoT/showpost.php?p=9852&postcount=1) showed up to test the overall swank state of mind. Rather than scorn and banishment, their transgressions were greeted with soft rebukes and encouragement to improve. ;)

With the wicked properly swankafied the site rolled along picking up speed and touching on issues ranging from timely news (http://www.xenarchy.com/LoT/showpost.php?p=26360&postcount=1)and commentary to the downright silly (http://www.xenarchy.com/LoT/showpost.php?p=10450&postcount=1).

Sure there were a few bumps (http://www.xenarchy.com/LoT/showthread.php?t=945) in the road, there always are, but in the end the swank was always stronger than the... (What's a word for anti-swank???)

So I offer my humble thanks to each and every one who is a part of this community from the Guru of swank to Janie, our newest member. :snap: :snap: for all that you do to make this site what it is.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LoT and many more!

Heh heh - you make me blush.

Honestly as I look back over the year, this has been the thing I'm most proud of. Our readership might not be so big, and our focus might be a bit ambiguous at times, but I think we've managed to gather some of the heppist cats on the internet here. For that I am very gratfull.

Thank you all, and Happy LoTiverssary.

The story of Goldilocks comes to mind. This board's too big. This board's too nutty. But THIS board is just right.

I'm VERY happy to have our happy home that is relatively free of drama and dullness but filled with smart dialog, warm friendships and hours of amusement. I spend longer reading fewer posts here than I do on much larger boards.

It fits just right.

I still can't wait for Trojans to use that as a tagline... "It fits just right"

Happy Anniversary to everyone at the LoT! :)

This place holds a dear place in my heart and is everything I could ever want in a message board. Never has a swankier cast of characters been assembled (yes, even you, scaeagles.:) ). That you are all my friends makes it all the more special.

So many heartfelt thanks to everyone that made this place happen and keep it running smoothly.

So when do the bears come and shoo us away? :D

But yea, LOT really is quite an awesome place. Snaps to all. :snap:

Right back at ya.

I will say that as one of the few resident conservatives, and certainly one of the most vocally so, it is nice to be accepted - and perhaps even liked :) - by you liberal freaks.

I have participated in a few internet posting fora (is that the proper plural of forum?), and the size makes it easy to keep up with (I just logged onto mice chat for the first time in a couple months and there were over 148000 new posts - ummmm.....not going be reading them all), and the mixture of interesting people is just perfect.

Long live the LoT.

I have to agree 100% with Moonliner on thsi one. Truly a wonderful place to be. Granted, my visits have been in fits and starts cause I hang here mostly from work and work has left me little time for fun. I hope to rectify this in 2006.

Everyone who put in the long hours for design, maintenance and just the creation of the oasis of swankiness, I'll tip my maroon beret in your direction and toast you all!

Wow, a whole year.

I don't think I'll ever forget the overwhelmeing sense of satisfaction not only when, after a frenzied afternoon and evening, we stepped back and saw that we had created something worthy of unveiling to everyone, but more importantly when all the people that we loved to virtually hang out with actually started to show up. It was a turbulent time, and we felt like we were taking a big risk in shaking things up. But it became almost immediately apparant that it was well worth it.

We may not have the largest membership, and we don't exactly have a frenzy of activity, but what we do have is irreplaceable. Not only a place for us old friends to get away from old drama, but one that's attracted a new bunch of friends as well.

And I'm still having a blast posing as technical guru (vBulletin's such a well put together piece of software that makes things so easy, I sometimes feel guilty taking credit for that...sometimes ;) ). Not to mention the creative outlet that this place has been, both in the design process at the beginning, and in the Open Mic.

Here's hoping that the next year, and the years after, continue to be groovy beyond expectations. Of course, with y'all, I doubt that'll be a problem.
