Figured I'd cross-post this here, since there are fans of the yummy swank that is Dole Whip. ;)
I found Dole Whip mix available for purchase online at http://www.uec-hawaii.com/products2.html (it's the 3rd item down).
I have big, big plans for this stuff. Not only will it be used in a small soft-serve machine, but I plan on mixing it in a blender with some ice and Malibu for a little Drinki Drinki. ;)
Also - I am going to reconstitute some of it into a syrup consistency and add it to my fresh soda water in an experiment to make Enchanted Tiki Soda.

EXPERIMENT A - ENCHANTED TIKI SODA - PREPARATION
Behold - the blessed Dole Whip mix in its purest form! (Transferred to clear bag for your viewing pleasure):
http://pics.livejournal.com/disneyphile/pic/0009xbcd/s640x480
For this experiment, I took 1/4 cup dry mix and added just enough water to make a thick syrup as shown:
http://pics.livejournal.com/disneyphile/pic/0009zfbs/s640x480
Then, I filled a bottle with water and carbonated it with our wonderful little soda maker:
http://pics.livejournal.com/disneyphile/pic/0009y3xc/s640x480
Then, I slowly poured the tiki godly nectar into the water and...... WHOA!!! Dole Whip "syrup" + fizzy water = big ol' messy enchanted volcano of pineapple goodness:
http://pics.livejournal.com/disneyphile/pic/000a0d2p/s640x480
Once the bubbles settled a bit more, I capped it and mixed it, thus resulting in Enchanted Tiki Soda:
http://pics.livejournal.com/disneyphile/pic/000a1fpw/s640x480
Only slightly disappointing, the little bits of pineapple(?) had settled within:
http://pics.livejournal.com/disneyphile/pic/000a2f15/s640x480
Now, I'm just waiting 15 minutes for the fizz to settle so it can be opened for a taste test.......... (to be continued about 15 minutes from now)

EXPERIMENT A - ENCHANTED TIKI SODA - TASTE EXHIBIT
(aka "Disneyphile's Fast Pass to Hell")
Looks delightfully refreshing, doesn't it:
http://pics.livejournal.com/disneyphile/pic/000a3yd0/s640x480
Time for MAG-ni-fi-cation....... It looks like an old effect from Adventure Through Inner Space, that's for sure.....:
http://pics.livejournal.com/disneyphile/pic/000a4ea6/s640x480
At this point, I was tempted to turn back, but persisted with my hopes of a newfound discovery that would earn my praise in Disney geek communities around the world!
I'll put it this way, greed is a bad thing, kids. A really, really, bad thing. Drinking this stuff was comparable to licking Tangaroa's backside.
This was the resulting sediment still clinging to the glass, or crawling up the sides, I'm not sure:
http://pics.livejournal.com/disneyphile/pic/000a5bhg/s640x480
FINAL RESULT: EXPERIMENT FAILED. (Do NOT try this at home. Ever. For the love of Walt, just say "no"!!!)
NEW NAME: ENCHANTED TIKI SODA - UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT
More experiments to follow in the coming days, once I recover.

EXPERIMENT B - DOLE WHIP PIE - PREPARATION
I got this crazy idea to replace the sugar in my usual quick no-bake cheesecake recipe with dry Dole Whip mix and make Dole Whip Pie.
It required - one 8-ounce package each of sour cream, Cool Whip, and creamcheese, plus a graham cracker crust and 1/3 cup of Dole Whip mix.
http://pics.livejournal.com/disneyphile/pic/000a924f/s640x480
First, I added the Dole Whip mix in with the softened cream cheese:
http://pics.livejournal.com/disneyphile/pic/000aatfb/s640x480
Then, I added in the sour cream:
http://pics.livejournal.com/disneyphile/pic/000ab3rf/s640x480
I started mixing, watching in awe as that creamy yellow color began to take over, as well as that familiar scent that sends us on a mental vacation to Hawaii with every whiff:
http://pics.livejournal.com/disneyphile/pic/000acsch/s640x480
Once mixed, I paused for a moment, and prayed to all the Tiki gods for this to turn out, because it was already looking appetizing:
http://pics.livejournal.com/disneyphile/pic/000adary/s640x480
Then, it was time to fold in the Cool Whip:
http://pics.livejournal.com/disneyphile/pic/000ah17q/s640x480
Finally, the sacred creaminess was fully blended, ready to be spooned into the crust (or into my mouth, tempting as it was... but, I was a good girl):
http://pics.livejournal.com/disneyphile/pic/000aeeth/s640x480
Praise Tangaroa!!! We now have Dole Whip Pie!
http://pics.livejournal.com/disneyphile/pic/000afggx/s640x480
Now, it has to set for at least an hour in the fridge, but that didn't stop me from taking an initial taste test......... :
http://pics.livejournal.com/disneyphile/pic/000ages2/s640x480
Behold!!! For, I have stumbled upon a truly enchanting dessert fit for all the tiki gods!!!! Really - this stuff is goooooooooooooooooooooooood!!! :snap:
A further taste sampling and report will follow later on Sunday (the 11th), after a lucky panel of ladies will indulge in this cloud of pineapple heaven at Morrigoon's hut.
(To be continued.............)

Thank you for sharing. The pie looks delicious, I love making no bake cheese cakes and experiment with them all the time. Let us know if it tastes as good as it looks.
I eagerly await the rest of the experiments, especially the soft serve. They make small soft serve machines? Looks like I'm not up on my small appliances lately. We just got an ice shaver for snow cones and a few drink experiments.
Thanks, the pictures are great!!

These seem to be the advanced variations, how did making the Dole Whip itself go?

When I was last over at Tom's farms here, near Corona, I saw a sign in the window advertising Dole Whips. If we weren't on our way out, I would have ran in to see how it compared. Next time...

Wait - you can get a kitchen counter-sized soda maker?!You mean you don't have one? It's pretty standard kitchen equipment. The decaffeinating attachment will cost you an arm and a leg, though.
Just kidding. I wondered the same thing. No more fuzzy water going flat in the fridge, eh?

EXPERIMENT B - DOLE WHIP PIE - TASTE EXHIBIT
(Crazy Legs has photos - maybe she'll post 'em!)
Anyway, we sliced into the pie yesterday, and it was delish!!
However, it was noted by one gal that the Dole Whip flavor was a little subdued, so I'll probably up the amount a bit in the next one, and decrease the sour cream, so that it will have a bit more "enchantment".
It was like eating a slice of heaven though - nice and creamy with a hint of everyone's favorite Tiki Room flavor. http://www.micechat.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin2.gif
EXPERIMENT RESULTS: SUCCESS!!!!
(And no, I still haven't gotten our ice cream maker yet, so I haven't been able to make just plain ol' Dole Whip. However, one of my friends sent me a Wiki link on how to use two ziploc bags as an ice cream maker, so I might try that soon.)

I had to read this Thread super-quickly because I'm at work.. so, I misread part of this post and thought for certain I had read "Cherry Whip".
Sigh..don't I wish. Cherry flavoring is my weakness!
A Cherry Whip would whip my cherry into total excitement. Oh, those orgasmic whips! ;) :p
Oh, and Disneyphile, I loved your pictures and ideas! I love that Mickey toaster, too!! :) :snap:

Hey, send it to Austrailia!!!!
The worst part about sending stuff to the bear? Trying to figure out the amount of paperwork needed to send a package. Or HOW to fill it all out.
To the point that I have a package for him, and just keep avoiding the PO.

You're quite right there - I think that AP doesn't stand for Australia Post, but now means Always Paranoid !
Yeah, like you'd declare dangerous goods if you were sending them. You never know when a tube of Vegemite's going to spontaneously combust in the mail.....
Hmmmmm Vegemite Icecream.........

What about Vegemite Whip??!!
BTW, I wouldnt be surprised if the salts in the carbonation didn't thicken the Carragennan thickner in the Dole Whip mix, causing the coagulation to occur in your first experiment. If you could first well mix the Dole Mix to a thinner more uniform consistancy, then add the carbonation or carbonated liquid with less final viscocity, it may work better. A stick blender may help in about 3 times the water you started with. Then perhaps using a lemon lime soda (I know, you would rather use the beautifull machine taking up valuble real estate on your counter) would work.
