Yes kids, your favorite chainsaw-handed horror franchise is back, but this time as an off-Broadway musical (http://www.evildeadthemusical.net/)!

Man, I wish I was in New York so I could catch this puppy!

Live-ish performances. hehe.

I'd think AOD would do better, but we'll see how long this lasts...

What a classic flick. Loved Evil Dead. I'd rather see a Freddy musical, but that's just me.

Freddy and Jason are SO closeted. The things they do with Chucky....

I would love to see Evil Dead: The Musical.

And Reservoir Dogs: Kabuki!

I read about this a short while ago. I'm still not sure whether to be excited, or horribly frightened.

Here's a AICN review (http://www.aintitcool.com/node/30523) of the show, along with a (no-so-great quality) video clip!

On one hand...that would be so cool.

On the other..."Carrie: The Musical"...'Nuff said. ;)

I don't think the problem with Carrie was the source material. Horror is a perfectly valid subject for a musical. (Sweeny Todd anyone?) Carrie sucked ass flopped because of the "creative" team who put it on, most notably the director.

Oh, I absolutely agree. If done tastefully, anything could make a great musical. But, after reading about the disasterous reviews Carrie got (and, keep in mind, I had to read about it because I was only 7 when the musical based on Carrie was released) due to the bad casting and poor direction, I worry that this project might have similar instances.

I think the other thing that ED (and Sweeny Todd) has over Carrie in its favor is the inherent humor and irreverence in the source material.

What about... instead of "Scary Movie", we have "Scary Musical", "Scary Musical 2" ... and so on !
