Perhaps I'm just jonesing for Paris, but tomorrow (Saturday 7/14) is Bastille Day and I feel like I want to celebrate it in some fashion.
A google search turned up this: (http://www.bastilledaylosangeles.com/)
Come join in the fun!
Celebrate Bastille Day at the Southland's Best French Festival!
Win a trip to Paris or Tahiti!!
Enjoy great French food and wine!
2pm-midnight On Sunday, July 15th, 2007, Angelenos will celebrate the sixth annual official Bastille Day LA Festival at Bergamot Station -- Southern California's largest art gallery complex and cultural center (Olympic Boulevard & Cloverfield) -- with French gastronomic delicacies and spectacular live entertainment.
Come join in the fun and experience what thousands of people have been enjoying for the past six years, making this annual celebration one of the most well-attended community festivals in Los Angeles. Entertainment includes:
- A true Provencal Petanque Tournament under the pine trees
- A Parisian Waiter's Race
- A children's village with fun and games
- Street performers
- Tahitian dancers
- Comedians, singers, artists
- French Market vendors
- Sidewalk cafes
- Fun prizes for all races
- Fabulous raffles including a trip to Paris!!
- Famous French food, wines and gastronomic delights!
Under the auspices of the Consulate General of France in Los Angeles, the Festival is co-hosted by Consul General Philippe Larrieu.
Event Hours: 2pm-midnight
Entrance Fee: $5 - Free for children
But it's on the DAY AFER - wtf? the occasion is on a Saturday seems like that's when it ought to be celebrated?
Anyway - I'll watch the tour, maybe open some Champagne - go out for crepes - but I'm in the mood for something French, any suggestions?
