..and this is all you can bring:

One meal
One dessert
One snack food
One kind of drink (let's pretend plenty of fresh water is already provided)
One CD
One DVD
One book
One magazine or newspaper subscription
One person
One celebrity
One "free item" (of your liking and choosing, except no plane tickets or boat/raft rides! Your'e doing a minimum hard year on this island!)

Now, I'm well aware that there are all kinds of glaring holes in my list ("but won't we need a TV? A DVD player? A stereo?" "Won't we run out of supplies?" What if I need an oven for my meal?" "How about I just bring my iPod and then I'll have all of my CD's?" "My free item will be a ticket to get off the damn island!" etc.) Let's ignore the glaring holes and suspend disbelief all in the name of a silly Thread! :D I'll post mine soon (I'm already in trouble for taking a time-out to post a Thread. I'm really having a lazy week at work!)

Here's to lazy summer days  ...

I'll treat this as more of a "it is your last day before you're executed, what do you do for the following" than on a desert island. I can't think of any book, magazine, CD, etc. that I would want to be stuck with as my sole entertainment.

One meal - Bellagio Sunday brunch buffet.
One dessert - My lemon souffle, which with all due humility is the best dessert I've ever had.
One snack food - A king size pack of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
One kind of drink - I'm not much of a drinker but let's say a good lemonade.
One CD - Gah. What would I do with a CD? Coaster for the drink so anything.
One DVD - All About Eve
One book - I don't really have a favorite book and it would vary a lot depending on mood at the time. The Education of Henry Adams, Crime & Punishment, The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant (if I can find a single volume edition) would all be contenders.

One magazine or newspaper subscription - Atlantic as the non-practical. Bamboo and Coconut Construction as the more pracitcal.

One person - Lani.

One celebrity - I have no interest in celebrity for celebrity's sake. If there is a promise of putting out then circa-1988 Elle MacPherson.

One "free item" - A condom. Who knows where Ms. MacPherson has been?

Capt Jack

Whew! Okay, I'm finally answering!

One meal: Macaroni n' cheese- that's my comfort food!

One dessert: Pinkberry! An original topped with fresh blueberries, sweet coconut shavings and carob chips.

One snack food: Tortilla chips with salsa and guacamole.

One kind of drink: Margaritas! (C'mon, it's a tropical paradise fantasy! )

One CD : Dream Of The Blue Turtles~ Sting.

One DVD : Definitely a season of The Simpsons. Or, maybe Friends!

One book: The Bible (for the Sunday Mass we'll need to hold after the margarita-fueled debauchery occuring Monday through Saturday. ;) :p )

One magazine or newspaper subscription: Us Weekly.

One person: My boyfriend!

One celebrity It's a toss-up between Lindsay Lohan or Britney Spears. Both desperately need a break to re-group & recover. Or maybe not-I can't think of anybody more fun to share margaritas with (because we won't need sober living while on the island- we'll enter Promises after rescue!) Plus, I won't need all of my celebrity mags when I've got the real deal entertaining me for free on the Island. Ooh! I'll also work off all of my mac n' cheese weight constantly fighting my boyfriend to not drown either one of them. Those two top his list of "most slutty & despised celebrities". :(

Maybe I'll just pick Kristen Cavallari. She looks like lots of fun. :)

One "free item": A bikini! Wait! That's no fun. I'll need a laptop. That'll keep me endlessly entertained and informed.

Alex

Would you want to spend your last minutes scratching?

That was my thinking.

Going out with a cry of "it burns! Oh my god does it burn!" sounds humiliating.

Capt Jack

Would you want to spend your last minutes scratching?

if Im truly to be whacked shortly thereafter? yes, I would. beats thinking bout the oncoming (bullet? electricity? guillotine?) at least I could focus on how I got that itch

Alex

Well then, on your list you can leave off the condom. Plus that bitch probably lied about being on the pill and I don't need no kids whining about their absentee father.

Plus that bitch probably lied about being on the pill and I don't need no kids whining about their absentee father.

This is, to me, the funniest thing you've ever said.

One meal
Inn of the Seventh Ray brunch buffet

One dessert
Sprinkles Cupcakes
(By the way, I think that Sprinkles should start sending LoT a box of cupcakes every time we mention them. We're just as good as The Soup.)

One snack food
This has been one of the hardest ones for me to answer. I don't generally have one consistent snack food. Sometimes I'll eat pretzels if Tom has them (I don't actually like them.) I enjoy chips and guac but not enough to deem them my desert island food. Perhaps cheese. Yeah, cheese and crackers. Can I say cheese and crackers and fruit?

One kind of drink
If I brought Arnold Palmers, would I be able to separate them out and sometimes have tea and sometimes have lemonade? Because if it were just Arnold Palmers, then I'd have to say screw Arnold Palmers, I want Pom white iced tea with peach to be my only beverage.

One CD
A very long mixed one. One album wouldn't work for me. But the mixed one would include a little Gorillaz, a little Three Blind Mice, a little IZ, a little Ditty Bops, a little Harmour Love and "A Little Priest."

One DVD
Is this one disk, or one DVD box? Because if it's one DVD box, I'm bringing the sixth season of The Simpsons, and if it's one DVD, I'm bringing Harold and Maude.

One book
The Artist's Way. Yeah, I'm a lit fan and I'm bringing a self-help book. So what?

One magazine or newspaper subscription
Real Simple. It really calms me down.

One person
Tom. Wait, is Tom a celebrity? He has a hefty imdb entry. If Tom's a celebrity, I'm bringing Audra as my "person."

One celebrity
If Tom doesn't count (then, sorry Audra!) Tom will be my one person and JK Rowling would be my celebrity. And she'd tell us stories.

One "free item"
If Tom doesn't count as my celebrity, then Audra will be my "free item" because I couldn't hang out with JKR without her. Wait. Tom and Audra and JKR? Who cares about free items or the questionable celebrity status of my husband, we'll just go with those three.

Ol' Bill

One CD - REM Out of Time
One DVD - Amadeus
One book - A Dictionary
One magazine or newspaper subscription - The LA Times because 1) it is DAILY, 2) I like their comics section
One person - Susan - no question about it
One celebrity - Nichole Kidman
One "free item" - Sunscreen

One meal - This one is really hard to say... I'm on a desert island and in my mind, that's mighty warm a good portion of the time. I'll go with fresh tacos with all the fixings. Not because it's my favorite meal (I don't know if I have one anymore, and the one I would consider is too heavy for a deserted island), but because I could make a taco salad out of it. :)

One dessert - Dark chocolate

One snack food - Chips and 7 layer dip. Can double as a meal and has lots of protein.

One kind of drink (let's pretend plenty of fresh water is already provided) - Mojitos. (again, considerations of weather)

One CD - I'm f*cked here. I'm going to go with Beatles' Sgt. Pepper, because it's one of the few I like from start to finish, and never get the urge to skip a song.

One DVD - I'd let my "person" pick. It would be more important to him. In the event he couldn't - how about Forrest Gump? I really don't care, I like a lot of movies, and I'd think I wouldn't want anything too suspenseful in movie form. Need feel-good for re-watchability. I'm sure I'll think of something better and amend this later.

One book - Difficult time deciding, so likely an anthology of short stories would do me well. I could spread it out, without that burning desire to finish a really good story.

One magazine or newspaper subscription - EW

One person - J (though I'm not sure how happy he'd be that I made him stuck on a desert island)

One celebrity - Bear Grylls, mostly because he's really cute, and I'm sure J wouldn't entirely mind. Plus - he could build a raft out of anything and keep us entertained by doing his Man vs. Wild thing.

One "free item" - sunglasses... so I could wear them at night.

One meal : Anything Italian that's my favorite type of food.

One Dessert: Anything chocolate.

One snack food: have to go with chips i'm always munching or hungry for chips for some reason.

One kind of drink: this is a hard one i think i need caffinee so i'm going with Coke.

One CD: ok make this extremely hard for me if i only have 1 cd to pick from the entire album of Bon Jovi's that i can't live without it would have to be One Wild Night CD since it has a mix of their songs up til Crush album.

One DVD: hmmm hard one as well would have to be Vampires Los Muertos.

One book: not much of a book reader i'd have to say one of Anne Rice's Vampire chronicle books (i'm now reading the 5th book in the series)

One magazine or newspaper subscription: People

One person: hmmm either my friend Brea or Lisa since i'd be stranded for awhole year. That way we could have our chats...lmao

One celebrity: Hard difficult one as much as i love Jon Bon Jovi i think i would rather have Richie Sambora alone all to myself.

One free item: if i have Richie on the island to myself and to keep occupied then i'd have to say a guitar.

You guys have such fab ideas that I think I may need to revise my list!!

I still stand by Pinkberry as my dessert choice, but I think I might need to add me some Bob's Big Boy Combo!

For celebrity, I really want to bring Nicole Richie, whom I absolutely love! Not just because she's a fabulous fashionista, but moreso for taking responsibility for her actions and turning her life around in a positive direction. Holding your own self, or rather person, accountable is the most important step in self-recovery. Her honesty & candor is refreshing. :)

However, she's with child and I cant take her away from Joel Madden! So, I'm thinking Sarah Jessica Parker might be a fun choice. Or, I'll just keep Britney or Lindsay on Margarita Isle De AllyOops! :) :snap:

yeah, same here as far as rethinking. mine was geared towards "surviving being stranded on an island for an unforseeable length of time", but if its a pleasure stay, the list changes completely. that is, so long as theres a predictable end to it, then I can do without a few things on my list, but couldnt do without others.

I'll get back to ya
