Okay, looks like the trip to Hawaii has been changed to Europe! :D
My family background is strongly English, and I've always wanted to go. We are considering England and France. This is our first over seas trip, and I was considering Disney Destinations. Anyone else ever use them? Do they do a good job?
Is the tour thingy a good idea for beginners (we do want to see touristy stuff)? Can we save a bundle of dough doing it all ourselves? We will want to stay in nice hotels rather than money saving hostels or what ever.;)
And of course we can't go to Paris with out seeing Disneyland Paris!! This will be my first Disney park other than Anahiem!
Thanks for any tips to this traveling virgin!

The only time I've ever traveled on a "tour package" is when I went to Peru - and it was a good idea there. Otherwise, it's really more fun to do it yourself and explore on your own pace.

We're thinking about the UK next year- might have to (sob) skip DL for the year, but we really want to go. I don't think I'd do a tour group as you are too restricted, and we like to explore. I only hope the exchange rate improves......

I agree there, last I checked it was about 1.5 Euro to the dollar...:(

They do give you some time on your own. But having never done any traveling before, it's a bit of a blessing not having to worry about the details.
I forgot to mention, I do have a friend in Liverpool that may be able to help with some details if we do decide to do it ourselves. And she travels a lot, so she is well versed.

Cool! No suggestions, but have fun! I'd love to see England and Ireland and France. :)

I'm going with my mom, my aunt, and her girlfriend. If I could get any of them to go, I'd love to do the hot air ballon over the castles tour!

I think a tour would be great if you'd never traveled much before. Perhaps you can do a tour for a few days then have some time to yourself to explore more or go back to things that maybe the tour didn't have the time for?

That was our thought. The Adventures By Disney is 8 days 7 nights. If we went to DLP for a day, perhaps we could take a few days before heading back if we have a 14 day vacation. :D

Go to London! Most definitely positively absolutely go to London. It's my favorite city. There is so much to see there. The history, the museums, the theatres... If I had a chance, I'd go there tomorrow.
:)
Disneyland Paris. Wonderful park.

Yes, go to London. You can't miss that.
But if you go to France try to not skip the Cote d'Azur.
Cannes, Nice, Monaco - all breathtakingly gorgeous.
I swoon.

Oh, yes. London is the main reason we are going. The tour starts there, then takes the Chunnel over to Paris for the second part. It ends there so you can go to DLP after if you want. I think after DLP we most likely will go on back to London (we will most likely fly in and out of the same airport) and spend a couple more days in London on our own.
I need to check on Cote d'Azur. I don't even know what that is  .

The French Riviera, baby.
I went to Europe fully expecting that London was going to be my favorite part of the trip. I did love London, but the South of France is the one place I really hope I see again someday. Just gorgeous, and the people, the food... I loved it.
