I just got the UCLA Live line-up for their 08/09 Schedule - I'm still perusing, Definitely will do the Dance series, some international theater, Harold Lloyd Organ recital, etc.

But this one caught my eye as something someone else might enjoy. Hal Wilner put together this great collection of Disney songs done by contemporary artists (uh, contemporary minus 20 years, I guess). It's remained one of my favorites. No artists announced yet for this one - but I imagine it will be a grand collection.

Anyway, I can get advance tickets before the 27th if anyone is interested

Unfortunately, that's right at the height of my Halloweening season.

This album was a premium when I was the guy that mailed your premiums to you when you subscribed to KCRW. It began my quest to find bizarre and offbeat covers of Disney tunes, and is the reason that 2,377 of the 7,935 pieces of music on my iPod are classified as Disney. I would love to go to this concert!

It's a great CD. I found it in some used CD shop not too long ago. Neat covers..

Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes.

There was a Disney tribute concert in England that was curated by Jarvis Cocker (of Pulp) called "Forest of No Return" - it featured David Thomas, Skye Edwards, Ed Harcourt, Beth Orton, Jarvis, Nick Cave, Pete Doherty, Shane MacGowan, Roisin Murphy, Richard Strange, Grace Jones (!) and more.

If this is half as cool... it's still the coolest thing to see this fall.

Please please please count me (and H) in.

Is there a recording in the Mousepod archives?

Single (non-subscription) tickets are now available for this event - and other UCLA events. We bought tickets last night and got fantastic seats. If you want to go, I urge you to get tickets asap.

If Tom Waits shows up to perform "Heigh Ho," I'll be incredibly surprised (and jealous.) I've played STAY AWAKE more times than any other Disney related tracks on my iPod. What a great album. (I love LOST IN THE STARS just as much, and would love to see a concert along that line as well.)

We got a post card in the mail today - the event is canceled. My cheese is VERY sad.

NOOOOO!

Oh well, I never got tickets anyway.

But Bah. I've had this piece on my mind a lot lately, and have taken the opening bit on as my motto of late.

Le sigh.

unavoidable cancellation of several key performers. was the reason given. I never knew who the performers were going to be - I was looking forward to seeing what Wilner came up with.

Sad but... we are going to see Mexican Wrestlers, Strippers and Comedians at The Mayan on Tuesday and cool Halloween music (from the Spongebob composer and special guests) on Wednesday...

anyone interested in those stellar Halloween events?

Maybe it will be .... with a glimmer of selfish hope ... rescheduled somewhere down the line.

But hopefully before most of the scheduled performers, ya know ... die.
